It just came later than many expected, including Wilder.

Wilder successfully defended his WBC heavyweight title with a ninth-round knockout of Eric Molina on Saturday night at Bartow Arena, a short drive from his hometown.

Wilder (34-0) delivered a right hand that turned Molina around and sent him falling on his back. The referee quickly signaled that the fight was over, probably several rounds later than many observers anticipated with Wilder a heavy favorite.

David haye did stun wilder in sparring, with pillow gloves and headgear... Either David got extraordinery power or that chin is suspect??

That fight looked less like a Heavyweight title fight and more like a mid 90s toughman contest. They both looked horrible.

The fact is that Molina was a guy who was supposed make Wilder look good and help build his name, not a guy who was supposed to test him.

What I was gonna say. Wlad would've stopped Molina in 2.

And he'll be over flattened within 5 by Steelhammer.
Will you hoes give it a rest. Klit been ko'd by fighters who wud be considered bums if Wilder fought em. You sluts forget Wlad been had his ass kicked a few times and was said to be overrated and junk. He's been fighting Euro bred losers and beating em for years now y'all Wana anoint the man King like we don't know he is one solid right hand from a real puncher away from becoming a sleeping giant again. But look at him now. Stop acting like fighters don't develop better skill sets and improve with experience and hard work.

Wilder looked unimpressive but it's possible he just underestimated Molina or came in without a solid gameplan, perhaps thinking he could just wing it and still get the win. That he got rocked is no biggie. Molina can punch, if nothing else, and he caught Jonty with a solid hook flush on the chin. Jonty went on to dominate the fight so I don't think too much can and should be read into it.

We all know by now that Wilder's chin isn't great, but he seems to have decent recovery abilities and doesn't get mentally phased by getting hurt/knocked down, so the odd scare here and there is no real cause for alarm. He needs to learn to control himself better, though. He still goes too wild when he thinks he has his man hurt, and loses all composure or skill. Against better quality fighters this trait will get him into hot water.

He seems to understand that, at least, and when (if?) he fights Povetkin I expect him to be a lot more controlled. It's sometimes hard to switch that side of yourself off though, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that street brawler aspect of Jonty emerge at some point.
