Martinez ends his career as a legend... Classy and charismatic -- a rare breed in this sport.

Sad to see a fighter like him leave the sport. Great and gutsy fighter. Wish nothing but the best for him. Thank you for your fights.

Martinez has been out of the ring since last June's knockout loss to Miguel Cotto. Ever since he defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in September of 2012, Martinez has been dealing with numerous injuries and his body was breaking down. Martinez was barely able to stand, due to existing knee injuries, in his loss to Cotto.

Sergio was a great fighter, sportsman and ambassador of the sport.
He had the talent to outbox you or knock you out with 1 punch. Always entertaining fighter, and Ill never forget how he beat Cintron twice in 1 night.

The right decision, maybe the only decision. He probably knew he was in bad shape before the Cotto fight, but seen it as one last big pay-day.

I loved his fighting style and was a big fan of his around the time he faced Williams, Pavlik ect. I also loved his performance in the Chavez fight.

Good fighter and a good career. Happy retirement Segio.

Great fighter, especially considering how late he took up the sport. Always struck me as a very classy and humble man too.

Sergio was a thrill. Man that first fight with Paul Williams was one of the best. He showed who he was in that fight.

Cong**** to Sergio. He was a special athlete with a lot of natural talent.

At his peak, he was top 3 P4P and that's no small feat.

                  Enjoy retirement.
