Lara won't get either fight.

I don't see why Golovkin-Lara can't happen though. GGG just fought Willie Monroe who is completely unknown, so you can't use the 'no fan base' reason on Lara.

There are no " reasons " for Golovkins poor resume.

Despite stating otherwise..... Golovkin will go to 154 for Mayweather, but not for Lara, or for anyone else..... he will go to 168 for slow static fighters like Chavez/Froch, but not for Andre Ward.

They state that Lara " doesnt bring enough to the table "..... but then they fight Willie " I dont even have a chair, let alone a table " Monroe.

I can accept those type of excuses for a year, maybe for 18 months..... but after fighting at middleweight for 9 years and being this supposed killer..... come on man.

Didnt stop Golovkin from fighting him doe.

His options for May was Monroe, Heiland and Johnson. We knew after the Murray fight it would likely be a step down because no one was available. Lemieux/N'dam was set, Cotto chose Geale, Andy Lee vs Peter Quillin was set, etc. It was either fight Monroe/Heiland/Johnson or sit out. He chose the option that gave him $1.5m and good ratings on HBO.

Lara has all the tools to beat the very best.

That includes Canelo and GGG.

But...

He doesn't do enough to dominate and influence judges to score for him.

I think he has to look at himself first for his difficulties and stop blaming everyone else.

Maybe a new coach or manager could knock him into a more marketable fighter.

I enjoy watching him more than most, but can see why he pisses people off.

I'm not sure if Lara can beat Golovkin.

But he will not get that fight..... because either way, Lara would be a difficult opponent to beat, and a difficult opponent to look good against.

I think that Team Golovkin are more than happy with how things are going.

Would love to see GGG-Lara. Great style match-up. Personally I don't think Lara would do enough to take enough clear rounds and would get caught by GGG once or twice too often. Maybe not though. He's a real test for Golovkin.


Lara's stock seems to be very volatile on NSB. A lot of dudes who were calling him shit when he was after Floyd now convinced he's awesome and GGG is running from him.

This guy is clown. His comments 10x more entertaining sadly then his fighting style. You had your chance with Canelo and you didn't want to get knocked out so you ran all night, got booed, lost and embarrassed yourself. Got booed again tonight in a fight with a pure bum who was asking to be knocked out and still Lara couldn't do that. Lara won't get a big fight off this performance. He's just too boring and brings no fan base to the table.

If I recall the boring Canelo vs Lara fight, it was Lara who by the 9th round was bleeding and retreating.
It was embarrassing after all the $h!t talk that Lara did to get the fight, he ran for his life.

I don't think Lara's skills will reflect well on himself. He doesn't have a great chin, he has no power and he'll be much smaller. Lara can't fight on the inside and doesn't have the pop to keep Golovkin off him. It's a mismatch. Golovkin would chop him down fairly easy because of those reasons. If Lara was built like a middleweight and/or had some more power then it would be a much more interesting fight. As it is now it would just be a "name" on his resume. In that regard, if there are no better alternatives then sure, team GGG should send Haymon an offer and see if he's willing to put one of his PBC fighters on HBO. As we know Haymon and HBO aren't working with each other but hell, it's worth a shot. If I'm Loeffler I would try to call Lara's bluff here.
