I am sure it's to fulfill his whopping Showtime contract.

They are not gonna take a loss or less than maximum profit from his fights, so no Lara no way.

Every fight he's in has to sell and sell big to satisfy the investors.

    • Haven't read all this thread but maybe someone can explain this to me. Is Floyd still WBA champion? And Lara is WBA champion?

      How does that work again?

Does that mean Lara is some kind of mandatory to Floyd? Or does that simply mean the WBA is so ******ed that they actually give out two belts in each division just for the hell of it?

If Lara is mandatory then yeah, that would be a cool fight. Seems unlikely though especially if it's Floyd's last fight. He said he wanted a exciting fight for his next fight so that would rule out Lara I'd imagine.

I love boxing to the point I watch bouts of fighters I have never heard of commentated by languages I don't understand just because someone told me they were skilled. With that being said, Floyd-Lara would be.......as boring as boring gets. Who would initiate the action? There would be very long lulls in the action. Man that fight would suck lol

          • It doesn't really matter if this fight sells well or not.

Floyd is guaranteed at least 32 million plus a lot more after the PPV comes in.

They created regular champions so that they can continue to collect sanctioning fees when one of their title holders unifies or holds belts in multiple divisions.

I know but what does that even mean. Are the regular champs considered mandatories to the super or they just separate unrelated champs?

You don't seem to get it. Most of his fights are unprofitable to the networks because most of the money goes straight to his bank account. That's why HBO let him go. CBS lost millions pre-Pac fight. Since he already made millions ripping off CBS, he can reduce his guarantee and allow CBS to make a profit in his next fight, again, just by cutting down his guarantee.

Do you pay for Floyd's PPV's... Tell me, honestly, who you think right now has a better shot, that is realistic (ggg not being realistic)... Cotto? That Floyd already beat? Khan? Brooke? You think these guys are better than Lara? Next time you watch a boxing match, remember to keep your eyes open.

Why pay money for any other fight besides Lara where we know, beyond a doubt, that Floyd is going to win... I mean he'll still probably beat Lara, and Lara is a Haymon guy... so it is what is... But still, at least we'll get to see Floyd struggle (to at least land shots, score points)... No other fighter is going to make Floyd really struggle like that...
