Casual fans don't know either. But Ward signing with Jay-Z and basically being the face of BET boxing will certainly give him a push in the black community. That, combined with his status, and Kovalev's popularity in the hardcore community should certainly generate enough money for them to be worth each others' time.

Correction. He is moving up because of two long lay-offs, turning 30 years old and losing the ability to comfortably make 168, a weight which he hasn't even fought at during the Olympics (he was a Light-Heavyweight).

It's important that we get our facts straight without sensationalism. Golovkin is active, that we do know.

Golovkin will never fight Ward because Ward will expose with lateral movement, great defense and he won't get hit with the same bullshyat punch twice.

Ward will smother Golovkin power and fight on the inside (can Triple G even fight on the inside?)

Golovkin will never fight Ward because he wants the size advantage as well as power advantage over his opponent.

Has Ward said anything about Kovalev? I thought he was trying to fight smaller guys. I'd respect him a hell of a lot more if he had the balls to take on Kovalev.

About a year ago in an interview, Ward talked his way out of fighting guys like Kovalev and Stevenson because after he beats them, then what? lol
They do nothing for his legacy, according to Ward.
He said the same thing about GGG as well. That's when Ward was chasing the Chavez Jr lottery.

                    Not too surprising lol

I guess part of never losing is never fighting the guys who can beat you.
