  • Comments Thread For: Tarver: No Rematch, Mayweather Solved Manny Puzzle

Former champion Antonio Tarver sees no reason for a rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

The richest fight in boxing history took place last month at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, with Mayweather winning a dominant twelve round unanimous decision to unify the WBO/WBC/WBA welterweight championships.

Too bad the last dying breed of loyal Pac fans/ Floyd haters will deny this (some even until their graves). Manny got solved through the control of range, distance, and the use of timing.

Although I disagree with Tarver's assessment that you have to "think" with Floyd. There is no out thinking him. Manny tried setting traps if you watch the fight closely but Floyd was able to spot them at times. Manny had success three or four times in the entire fight laying traps until Floyd would adjust and the trap would no longer work.

The only way to beat an out boxer is to make it an ugly, dirty, rugged fight. Like Sandy Saddler did to Willie Pep, like Roberto Duran did to Sugar Ray Leonard, Like Joe Frazier did to Muhammad Ali. You need to apply a ton of pressure otherwise you'll get outboxed like Manny did.

Allow the puzzle to be shot, lose a few steps, get ktfo and then the puzzle also becomes much easier to solve.

Manny cant apply pressure like he could 5 years ago, once floyd saw that he knew he could win.

You said so yourself the key for victory is relentless pressure, which manny no longer possess.

Funny how Manny was able to apply relentless pressure and score six knockdowns to a much younger fighter just five months earlier.

Five years ago the fight might not have looked much different considering the fact that Freddie Roach has had the same game plan for FIVE years. It was feint Mayweather to the ropes and land quick combos before getting out of the pocket. Basically the Oscar De La Hoya blue print which hasn't worked and never will!

        Keep the excuses coming though

          Agreed...

But lets not forget... That puzzle was solved 5x already and 1 brutal way by Marquez so Floyd got lucky to get Marquez's leftovers...

            Holyfield thought Manny won.

Holyfield > Tarver => Manny won.

Neutral judges, neutral country. Pacman would win that fight 10 out of 10 times.
Vegas judges are blind as fck.
