Oh FFS. This size **** is really growing to mythic proportions. Do you really not have 10 minutes to look at all the top middleweights running around today? GGG is an average size middleweight and would be a smallish super middleweight. How many fighters can you name that GGG has fought that you can say "holy **** he is huge compared to him"? Curtis Stevens is about it, but he is built like a tank.Comment

You obviously missed my point.Ward wants two or three tune ups before even considering GGG and that is if he can even make weight at 168 again. People have to get over this masturbatory fantasy they have of Ward fighting GGG. The guy is not even in the same division. Give it a break already and let Ward at least have his first fight in two years on June 20th.
Cotto will vacate before having to fight Golovkin.
So I'll use another example and see if you get it.
Golovkin fights Froch (or Stevenson or Kovalev or the ghost of Marvin fkn Hagler....anybody that's gonna' put some some damage and tough miles on him regardless if he wins or loses) the same day Canelo fights Cotto, then Golovkin fights the winner of Canelo vs Cotto as his next fight.
Get it now?
That would actually be more fair, wouldn't it?Comment

I'm sure Marvelous Marvin will be deeply shocked at the news of his own passing. You obviously missed my point.

Because once he collects all the straps there are no ways around him. Same things Hopkins did, he eventually collected all the straps, and then nobody could avoid him, because if they wanted to fight at middleweight, they had to fight Him.I'm gonna go against the grain here but who the hell cares about GGG's WBC legitamacy? The guy is already middleweight champ and regarded as the best at 160. The fact they're using some bogus mandatory is pathetic...once again, he is the best middleweight. How he got the "interim" strap against Rubio is beyond me. The same Rubio that is awarded "interim", loses to the champ, then rewarded "interim", loses again, rewarded again...and again.
Point: GGG is a damn beast. Act like a champ and not some contender trying to force a mandatory. Unify? Great, but be a boss and stop showing desperation.
Thats what unification is all about, nobody can run anymore. They can't chase paper straps from weak champs to and call themselves the man, then fight nobodies. As soon as GGG has all the belts, Chocolate, Lee, Cotto, they have no way around.
Guys who will bounce back like Korobov will have no way up but through GGG, that is a fight I would like to see. Korobov is a very good fighter, even quite durable, just unlucky enough to get caught with the Lee right hook, that levels everyone, and he didn't go down.
Lots of good fights to be made at middleweight, and GGG can have them all if he has all the straps.Comment

So now GGG has to fight a LHW before getting a shot at the title for which he is the mandatory challenger? That is what you call fair? You obviously missed my point.
So I'll use another example and see if you get it.

Fair would have been if Cotto had taken his voluntary defense against Canelo back in May when he was supposed to. Then he could have been ready to defend against his mandatory in Sept or Oct, assuming he beat Canelo.
I still cannot get over the number of total idiots who post here. I'm stunned that you actually know how to use a ****ing computer to post.Comment

I will only address the point we are most apart on. WBC is irrelevant in this equation. They have no say in the matter. By holding the interim title and by being declared the mandatory challenger, Golovkin has legal standing and WBC cannot change that. His mandatory status is an implied contract and unless GGG accepts to step aside, he can force WBC to strip Cotto of his title and WBC do not have any choice but to comply. If they refuse, Golovkin and Loeffler go to court and get an injunction to either stop the fight from happening altogether or simply to block the title from being at stake....
3. Barcham You think the WBC is going to prevent a Floyd/cotto fight on these grounds knowing their history and how they operate? Dude, please. They want the bigger sanctioning fee.
Floyd, Canelo and Cotto are 3 of the top 5 revenue generators in the sport right now. GGG can whine and moan all he wants, the fact is he doesn't matter as much as his fans want him to in this scenario.
This is the same organization that has allowed Floyd to hold its LMW belt for about 2 years without defending it.
Respect your opinion but knowing how the WBC operates, can't see them forcing GGG into the belt. They do have new leadership than the past so maybe it does happen, I just can't see it.
In the current boxing world, with Haymon and his PBC trying to take over from the sanctioning bodies, WBC will not want this to end up in court and in the press and the media. It makes WBC and boxing in general look amateurish and corrupt. That is exactly the image WBC is trying to dismiss by encouraging unification fights. WBC figured that GGG would be very easy to deal with, that he could be bought out like everyone else in the past. But they are discovering that he is not interested in just a financial payment to step aside, the man wants the title - that is the most important thing to him. WBC cannot win in this situation unless Cotto and Canelo sign the agreement. And seeing as how Cotto thinks he is the most important and powerful person in the sport and that everyone should answer to his whims, there is little chance of that happening.Comment
