I see no shame in Cotto not taking the GGG fight as he's no where near the true Middleweight size that is required to face GGG.
Also seeing a Canelo fight with Cotto just has an awesome vibe to it. Another Mexico vs Puerto Rico matchup that will provide true fireworks. The young blood vs the old warrior. Has a great ring to it and it's still winnable by Cotto.
Now, I don't think Cotto is scared of GGG on a personal level. If Cotto was a true 160lb fighter, I have no doubt he would of faced GGG just as he faced Margarito when nobody wanted to. Cotto is a warrior. But this is the issue of size mattering, especially when GGG is a monster of 160lb fighter and Cotto doesn't even weigh more than 155lbs on his weigh-ins.... It's just a mismatch of size and Cotto is smart in that respect.
So size isn't the issue. People simply know from watching the two that Golovkin would push Cotto's poop in. They see Canelo as a more even opponent because he's somewhat flat footed and can be outboxed, not because he's signiticantly smaller than GGG.
IMO Golovkin-Canelo is the best fight in that triangle and Cotto's umpteenth "comeback" is a bit of a joke.Last edited by ////; 06-10-2015, 09:48 AM.

Golovkin should move up and fight Ward....Cotto obviously doesn't want the fight because he can't beat him due more to size and power, not skill.
Ward should pick on someone his own size who will fight back and won't get hit with the same punch twice.

But if he wants to be regarded as the lineal MW champ and hold onto the WBC MW belt, he has to acknowledge that that will come with requests to take on the top fighters of that division. For as long as Cotto insists on campaigning at MW I will insist that requesting a matchup with GGG is totally reasonable.
You can't have it both ways - if you're big enough to defend your title at MW then you are big enough to take on the best that division has to offer. If he can fight Geale, there is no reason not to fight GGG.

Here are some facts:
GGG/Monroe Official: 159.0 Unofficial: 170
Canelo/Trout Official: 153.5 Unofficial: 172
I'm sure it varies a bit from fight to fight but they are both ~170lb in the ring. Canelo is just going to keep killing himself to make 155lb to avoid a totally reasonable fight with GGG. If anything fighting Mayweather, Lara and Trout has shown us it's that it's almost definitely ODLH steering Canelo as far away from GGG as possible for as long as is reasonable.
Regardless of where the blame belongs, someone needs to wake up Canelo fans and remind them how big their fighter really is.

Heres whats wrong with not signing for GGG.
If he's not a Middleweight and the belt came from beating Sergio give the belt up.
Don't go out and promote yourself against Gaele or Canelo or anyone else.
Sorry thats wrong and its disrespecting GGG who is the number 1 contender for that particular belt.
Personally these belts have lost so much meaning these days theres Champions crowned who are terrible boxers.
GGG is the best right now and he deserves the shot.
Cotto give it up, go back "junior hiding" weight class and fight dela Hoya he's making a comeback and wants GGG hahaha!!!!!!
LaMotta fought at 5'8" and 159 until he couldn't get down to it.
He didn't have great power at all, but he was a ****in' Monster!
Cotto has turned into Floyd Jr Jr he's learned the easy way around.

ggg cannot raise either arm above his chest
