You're right but he wasn't going life and death with the likes of Canelo, Vanes, Angulo and Molina down at 130. And Castillo was nowhere near the dominant champ like GGG. So you had smaller guy as a strong favorite, though not prohibitive like Ggg vs Lara

It doesn't matter if you think he'll win or not, it's a step up in quality, a step up Lil G fans don't want. You're talking like having a close fight with Canelo is a bad thing, isn't that fight supposed to be Lil G's career defining fight?

I'd love to see it as a mando though, better no hoper Lara than no hopers Wade or Heiland. Canelo is not that good, he and his people know he gets destroyed by Ggg. But it's the best money and exposure around and unlike Lara Ggg would make good of that opportunity

Fighting some bums to get a mando spot will somehow make the fight better? GTFOH with that lame excuse. It was all about Haymon stopping the fight as an excuse before, now that can't be used you've adopted the he has to "earn it" position. Everyone can see right through your defensive stance.

It wouldn't take much to get ahead of Heiland, Wade etc. And it'd be no worse than Smith, Delvin, Zaveck, Vanes, probably better.

I didn't say he has to earn it, I'm saying it's there for him if he wants it, 3 mando spots. Hell Jacobs doesn't want his, maybe work that one?

Ggg just went mando as a beltholder, in the same division, much more unusual. He just wanted it that much.

Lara was 160lb fight night vs Vanes. He's been higher but if you're 160, that's a small Sww. Cotto was 160 at welter.

Those champs ducked out when the mando was served. Somehow I don't think Lara wants it that much, but I hope he does.
