He can fight a ton of other fighter who will actually make a entertaining fight and again his fan base will never lose sleep about him not fighting Lara. Again This ain't about GGG. It makes no sense for any big name fighter, go down the line name whoever you want, to fight Lara. None are scared or ducking Lara. It's about him embarrassing himself in the Canelo fight and being impossible to market and sell to the fans.
GGG might fight other fighters who don't have a big name but it's better to face a no named fighter then a fighter with a bad name which Lara has right now. Lara did so much damage to his image and reputation in that Canelo fight.
People will say "Look at Floyd and Pac, they beat Oscar and became PPV stars". But that's a short sighted argument. Because in order to get Oscar, Floyd and Pac dominated several divisions and beat fighters like Diego Corrales, Genaro Hernandez, Jose Luis Castillo, Marco Antonio Barrera, Eric Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, etc. When they finally got to Oscar, they had hall of fame worthy resumes already! They were world champions in several weight divisions by the time they got their PPV fight. Once they established themselves, the cash cow said, "OK, let's do this"
GGG is not going to be handed a golden ticket to land Canelo or Cotto. Both of them are like "Triple who? **** that dude, I put in all this work and he thinks he can get a payday and make a name off me for beating up Willie Monroe? His ass can wait 2 years."
So no, Lara will not make him a PPV star. But it will put him one step closer to landing a big fight that will get him in the ring with a PPV star. It will get the fans saying "Canelo won a disputed decision with Lara but GGG put him away in 8 rounds. Canelo is scared."

Lara screwed himself over. Now he needs to just keep fighting at 154 hopefully after time and maybe a few exciting fights he can make fans forget about the canelo debacle and he can get another shot at a big fight. Or move up to 160 win some fights against top 10 contenders and earn a mandatory shot with GGG.
But right now he is known for all the wrong reasons, has no fan base and no shot getting a big name fighter to fight him.

Cotto and Canelo will not fight GGG until 2017 because he brings no money to the table and they have bigger fights with each other and possibly Mayweather.
Now, GGG fans are using that SAME excuse as the reason why they don't want to see GGG fight Lara or move up and fight Ward.
Even worse, GGG fans are saying that Lara is a boring runner and nobody wants to see him. Then, they turn around and call Floyd out, who they also consider a boring runner for ducking GGG.
What is up with these guys?

Either we get a huge hand out from a PPV star or we fight bums to perpetuate the myth. No middle ground.

Okay, i like GGG and hate Lara's fake Cuban School of Boxing
But, what's the reason for this fight getting no noise from the GGG camp?
I get it, Haymon may not want it, though I sincerely doubt that he has much investment in Lara to care if he losses; this is a win win scenario for him.
Is it HBO? They're putting GGG with anyone, I don't see why HBO would be oppose to adding a good name to GGG's resume.
So, what's the reason again? I've come around. GGG has no decent options, this is as good as it gets to start building something. Lara fought Canelo, that gave him a solid name
