He'd still be the best opponent on Golovkin's resume by a country mile.

This is why I don't get people saying that it does nothing for GGG's career.

Then they go out of their way to defend fights against guys like Willie Monroe. Heiland or Tureano Johnson because those are intriguing fights that bring a lot of money to the table.

No GGG is not ducking Lara like his haters are saying.

But his ****riders are on some bullshi* too. This is a great fight for GGG to take and the best available opponent that is willing to fight him. Whether you scored the fight 115-113 Canelo, 114-114, or 115-113 Lara, we all saw that Lara is right up there on the level of Cotto, Canelo and any other of the top fighters from 154-160 that we want to see GGG fight. I'm sure most of us would pick him to beat Miguel Cotto, in fact. If you were to do a complete ranking from 154-160 right now, it would look something like this:

Despite his blatant running the fight with Canelo was close. But the majority of fans and writers had Canelo winning a close fight. Few thought it was a draw and even fewer in the minority thought Lara won. Just based on the results you would think rematch? The problem is it's impossible to have a rematch because of how horrendous the fight was to watch. Which is 1000% because of Lara. That's the problem no fans will pay to see that crap again. Many have no desire in paying or wasting time to see Lara fight again at all. Lara has the skill to compete with the top fighters but the way he stunk up the joint with Canelo makes him impossible to sell to the public. Canelo, Cotto, GGG, Floyd, ect can all make more money fighting other fighters and the fans will not complain one bit that they aren't fighting Lara because they feel that fight will not be exciting/entertaining. Lara is the type of fighter that even if you beat him you won't look pretty doing it because he makes the fight so ugly and boring.

When you get to this level it isn't about just fighting the most skilled fighter it's about fighting guys fans want to see and about money. Lara brings neither to the table.

I mean it's pretty pathetic the amount of attention Lara gets for calling out golovkin especially when he's done the same in past only for his trainer to say it wasn't serious.

i'd imagine that haymon would rather keep lara in the mix with his 154 lbs fighters than let him get koed on hbo. lara will fight the charlo twins and andrade* before he can think about moving to 160 lbs

but if there is a snowball's chance that the fight gets made, i'm all for it; it would be an interesting test for golovkin

It's going to be tough for Lara to get a big fight. You just can't market a fight with this guy. And he has no one to blame but himself. He lost and stunk up the joint in the process in his biggest fight. A fight fans didn't even want in the first place. Only a handful of hardcore boxing fans were calling for Canelo to fight him. But he got the fight because he talked smack and disrespected Canelo. Then talked trash the entire promotion of the fight about how he was going to break Canelo's face. But when the fight came disgracefully ran all night got booed out the arena.

Had he actually fought Canelo even if he lost if he put on a good show his fanbase would of grown from the exposure of being on the big stage. Instead it went the opposite and now many fans have no interest in seeing Lara fight again. He had a tiny fanbase to begin with but after the stink of the Canelo fight it's impossible to get fans to buy a fight or show up to a fight with Lara involved.

This why I don't like Lara. He is a very good fighter no doubt. But he talked so much **** before the Canelo fight and then ran like a Rabbit in the fight and bragged after the fight about what a beating he put on Canelo.

Don't even THINK about putting GGG's name in the same stratosphere as those 3 fighters. Your talking about 3 fighters that have EARNED their PPV status. They fought dogs, took on the biggest, baddest and best fighters out there. Those fighters have been through murderers row to get to where they are at. Floyd and Cotto are in their 4th and 5th weight divisions and fight at 15-20 pound weight disadvantages. These 3 fighters are where they are today because they CHALLENGE themselves and when they can't find a fight they SEEK challenges elsewhere.

That is why they get the favoritism that they do.

GGG has no right to talk about bringing enough money to the table. His fights are not on PPV, it doesn't cost $1,000 to sit ringside, his fights don't require nationwide promotional tours and his weigh-ins aren't televised mega events.


He needs to earn his status and he will get to that level by beating guys like Erislandy Lara, Andre Ward, Canelo, Carl Froch, etc.

If you and him continue to acecpt the Willie Monroes and Tureano Johnson's of the world then stop *****ing about him not being able to get any of the big names in the ring with him. When he beats a top opponent, the big names will take notice.

PBP you think beating Lara will elevate GGG as a PPV star fighter? Seriously come on. GGG needs a fight with a big name to get to that next level and we all know that ain't Lara. He beats him he is in the exact same boat he is in now. So why fight him? He can fight a ton of other fighter who will actually make a entertaining fight and again his fan base will never lose sleep about him not fighting Lara. Again This ain't about GGG. It makes no sense for any big name fighter, go down the line name whoever you want, to fight Lara. None are scared or ducking Lara. It's about him embarrassing himself in the Canelo fight and being impossible to market and sell to the fans.

GGG might fight other fighters who don't have a big name but it's better to face a no named fighter then a fighter with a bad name which Lara has right now. Lara did so much damage to his image and reputation in that Canelo fight.

Yea, I see your point. Better for GGG to keep fighting the big names, like Willie Monroe. Lara's done nothing to deserve a shot at GGG. And to make matters worse, nobody even knows who Lara is, unlike Willie Monroe who has a huge fan base.

I would like to see the fight because I am sick of Lara and it would be a good knockout win for GGG. Lara wants to get a shot at the world's best middleweight by beating an unranked 154 pounder who was crushed by Cotto. Why didn't Lara beat a good middleweight and get himself a middleweight ranking instead of fighting a nobody? A win over GGG would be a big help to Lara's career. A win over Lara doesn't do much for GGG. Lara doesn't bring in much money. GGG's fans already know he will KO Lara and GGG haters will say he just beat a smaller fighter. Lara is so dull he dragged the very exciting Canelo into a dull fight that was really just a chase. You know Lara will run his ass off in a fight with GGG. GGG will catch him and knock him out sooner or later and Lara will be a good name on his resume so I am all for this fight.

Right....cos Lara has to jump through hoops to get a shot but all these bums Golovkin fights get straight shots at him for doing **** all.

Look at Lara's resume. It pisses all over Golovkin's. I think he more than deserves the fight.
