Well, what you refer to as the 'Mayweather dates' are actually the Mexican holiday dates....dates that draw a huge Mexican audience, especially when there is a big name Mexican fighter involved.

I don't see why anybody would expect the biggest Mexican attraction to not want to fight on the Mexican dates. Not to mention he's with HBO, I'm sure they would like to try and damage Mayweather/Showtime PPV numbers.

You do realize Canelo fights for Mexico and the fights are free pretty much over there.

Canelo doesn't have an actual problem. He's young, he doesn't need to be in a hurry... In contrast, Cotto has to fight either Canelo or Floyd at 154.5 for the MW lineal belt... Otherwise he will forced into the Golovkin fight or to vacate.

The only issue I have is going up against Floyd, if Cotto was whining about it happening any other day I would have an issue with it. But forcing someone else to lose money because he holds a personal grudge... How is someone who is unwilling to negotiate, ever really negotiating? He isn't.

Canelo is going to wait for Cotto to get even older and slower before he fights him and his fans will still buy the "Canelo is only fighting on Mexican dates" excuse. So again, the issue isn't Cotto not wanting to fight on 2 dates, it's Canelo ONLY wanting to fight on two dates. That's not a Cotto problem or issue that's all on Canelo.

Why should it matter if he's going up against Floyd. You're going to watch the fight regardless if Floyd fights or not right? I would only understand if it's Pac again or GGG but I don't see it happening. I'm glad that Canelo is pushing for the same dates because it puts pressure on Floyd to find better opponents.

You can't insult Canelo for his dates when you defend Cotto for the June date. That's just being unfair.
