Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder Plans Regular Run of Defenses at Home

Deontay Wilder's fight at Bartow Area in Birmingham on Saturday night is being dubbed a homecoming for the World Boxing Council world heavyweight champion.

In some ways it is. He will be fighting some 60 miles from where he was born and raised. The Tuscaloosa fighter will have massive support in what is expected to be a capacity crowd for the first defense of the title he won in Las Vegas in January.

The event itself is called "Sweet Home(Coming) Alabama."

To be fair though Elroy you fancy his chances against Ali so he can't be THAT bad.

I doubt Wilder goes anywhere near Povetkin.

                No bite LOL =P

Seriously though, I think he knocks out any Ali, 70's Foreman and any other nostalgic boxer without even really trying.

He's obviously not the worst boxer (duh) but in over 30 fights now, his only serious opponent hardly threw a punch and was sick as a dog with no strength.

Not saying Stiverne would have beat him otherwise but **** me if you can't KO a guy in that state who isn't defending or fighting back then there's something bloody wrong.

The fight only deepened the mystery and enhanced su****ions.

The only thing the fight proved conclusively is that Wilder does not have elite power at elite level!

I think that he has cherry picked his way to where he is now like no other before him.

It's an utter disgrace and a stinking insult!

I think Tyson Fury (the modern day Ali for me) or Alexander Povetkin would beat him up.

Let him have his bum tune up, then he needs to fight Povetkin.
