Damn... you're 100% right. The excuses fit the Manny groupies to perfection. Green K for connecting the dots.

Criticism of Triple G is pure ignorance!

1st post on here so thought I would dive in at the deep end!

In my opinion, the criticism people are throwing at Gennady Golovkin is, as the heading states: total ignorance!
People are commenting on various issues including - his age, his opponents (or lack of them) and that he is ducking certain fighters, so lets clear it all up.

Age - Yes he is 33 yrs old, no spring chicken but for years was held back under previous promoters, where he was a stablemate of Felix Sturm and was never given the deserved exposure so has broken free from there and although he is in a better place with k2 he could have even better promotion if he was to seek pastures new, although I don't think the promotion is an issue now, he is there at that level where he will be involved in fights with big names (if they will fight him). The fact that he fights multiple times each year could make up for this and see him in some big upcoming fights.

Opponents - So far we have not seen Golovkin in with a truly A list fighter, I will be the 1st to acknowledge this. He has wins against a lot of decent fighters, but not really any 1 stand out name. Firstly, his amateur record 345-5! and his performances at the olympics/worlds have obviously given him chance enough to develop his skill set, this combined with the freak power he possesses, and is it any wonder he is struggling to get fights with big names!? How on earth has Cotto managed to fight Geale when GGG is WBC mandatory and has been for years since Martinez was ducking him!! So for people to say he has fought no one is ******ity! You can't fight against guys that are S**T scared to fight you in the ring!!

Even if Cotto managed to get a catchweight of 157 or 155 GGG absolutely kills him! The few pound would not drain him like they did Geale, and this circus Roach and Cotto are putting on is just to buy time, rich knows GGG destroys Cotto, Canelo goes the same way, and right now He beats both Froch AND Ward and everyone of those fighters knows that if they got in the ring with triple G in next 6 month they lose, down the line Ward is THE fight if he can get back to 168? Failing that he is really struggling for a top name, he would destroy James De Gale so where does he go?
He has called out everyone from Cotto to Canelo to Froch to Ward and not one of them wants it, Floyd isn't interested at 154! Realisticly where does he go, who does he fight?

You can only beat what is in front of you, if any of the Middleweights step up i.e. LEE, QUILLIN, LEMIEUX, while they would represent a step up, they all go the same way! The harsh reality is that we have a once in a generation wrecking ball that is tearing boxing up!!
It says a lot that the only two names at 168 people mention GGG with are Ward and Froch shows the respect he has already, which brings me nicely onto another point - people who say Cotto is HUGE and GGG is a nobody - the HBO ratings for the last fights were very close, Cotto vs Geale roughly 1.5/1.6 million, triple G vs monroe 1.3/1.4 million views so its not exactly a huge difference between a multi weight world champion and triple G, the surprising thing is that Canelo-Kirkland had 2.1 million views with HBO! So if you read anything into those stats it is Canelo who is box office out of those 3! Yes I know he probably had the toughest opponent of all 3 but it clearly shows that in comparison with Cotto, triple G is all that!! At least in the eyes of the PPV fans

Lets get serious mang, you serious, GGG has big drama show for yo mang Cotto.

    But

IF YO MANG COTTO don't want GGG then he should with respect give up the lineal title and let someone win it if he don't mind it being on his resume ?

I respect Cotto !!!! He is a KO artist, a Chicken Chaser, but was fouled up by Margo and Pac , was in limbo without a great trainer to bring him back , then found ROACH and ****O MANG looky what happened.

Cotto under Roacha should fighta Canelo for sure, I wish he would fight May Jr one more time for old time sake and see if he survives that at 154.

I think the Chickena Chasina COTTO with KO the nice shicken Jr

After this fight, and if GGG is still undefeated then the winner of Canelo/Cotto should fight GGG.
i dont think any of them will fight GGG

This man has given his life to boxing...If he wants to make money and take care of his family, so be it. The same fans that are calling him a coward are the same ones begging him to do something for boxing (them)...

Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce Miguel Cotto.

The World Boxing Council’s middleweight kingpin (for the time being, at least) struck a blow for title-level disorder Saturday night, but it wasn’t when he dispatched a bloated, non-combative Daniel Geale.

Rather, the Puerto Rican star made his biggest statement after the fight, when he confirmed that his next trick would be to once again step through the Mexico-based organization’s mandatory challenger – Gennady Golovkin – to engineer a pay-per-view match later this year with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

The WBC’s president was smiling in the ring after the TKO and has suggested his alphabet group will sign off on a Cotto-Alvarez match – even though Alvarez holds no belts and has defeated no middleweight contenders – with the proviso that a pre-fight contract be drawn up guaranteeing Golovkin’s got next. I know that logic doesn't cut much ice around here. But there is a glaring logical fallacy in characterising Cotto as an anti-establishment rebel, thumbing his nose at the alphabet boys because he knows their titles don't mean ****.

Yeah? So why then is Cotto using every trick in the book to cling on to the WBC belt for as long as he possibly can?

Truth is, Cotto, Roach and Roc all know that world titles do matter, and that Cotto/Alvarez will be a bigger fight if it's a title fight.
