Prime B-Hop vs Kovalev?

I didn't bring any of Hopkins's losses up. In his prime, he wasn't so great that someone as good as Kovalev, who also would have been much bigger, wouldn't have a chance.

He said had problems with lesser fighters, but I still want to know who since you can pretty much say his prime was from the RJR loss to when he lost to Taylor. He literally destroyed the middleweight division and was undisputed champion.

I've been watchin a lot of Bernard Hopkins lately and although I rate Kovalev highly; I believe a prime Hopkins would have beat him. What do you guys think?

It's got to be Hopkins, who has never had a problem with his chin and at 50 showed that even Kovalev's world eating power couldn't finish him off. Bhop, even at 43-45, would have been quick enough, fit enough, strong enough and adaptable enough to tie Kovalev up, frustrate him late in the fight, pester him with sneaky shots. Kovalev would have gotten angry at first, then agitated, he would have tried to punch, then box, then punch again. None of that would have worked.

There's a very slim chance Kovalev may win a decision but I highly doubt that.

I know you failed history with that peanut size brain Eastern Europeans were under Communist rule they were not allowed to compete in pro sports. Maybe if you were born before 1990 you would understand

Actually I'm a white European I just happened to be not biased and racist. I know it's hard to imagine but try it.
My country was under communist rule too.
You talked abot white Europeans. I know you failed history but not just the slavs are both European and white. Also if you try to downgrade the achievements of the past greats with your excuses you're downright disrespectful to this sport and you shouldn't watch it.

Prime Hopkins never met a fighter with such a combination of power, size, technique and ability to control distance as Kovalev. Actually he had only one such opponent throughout his career besides Kovalev - Tarver. But Tarver wasn't so good on his feet, wasn't so good at controlling distance, didn't have such combinations as Kovalev. So we don't know anything how prime Hop dealed with big strong fast lightheavyweights.
Also remember that good big fighter beats good small fighter.
