Unbeaten puncher Miguel Marriaga (20-0, 18KOs) is prepared and mentally focused to have a war with WBA featherweight champion Nicholas Walters (25-0, 21KOs), also regarded as a deadly puncher on Saturday night in an HBO televised co-feature from The Theater in Madison Square Garden. Walters is making the first defense since capturing the belt in October with a knockout of Nonito Donaire.

Who has Marriaga fought? Should be a fun fight though.

I think they said on HBO last time that he beat Walters in the Amateurs so that'll be in both their heads. I believe they said he beat Walters twice.

His best win is Martin who he stopped in 5-6 rounds if I recall and Gary Russell took a decision over Martin after Martin lost to Marriaga.

        Found some info..

-2008 2nd America´s Olympic Qualifier participant at featherweight in Guatemala City, Guatemala
-Nicholas Walters Lost to Miguel Marriaga (Colombia) 9-14

Marriaga could be what Vernon Forrest was to Mosely, could just be his kryptonite.

Yeah I found it on BoxRec lol but Marriaga didn't go to the Olympics.

In the next Olympic Qualifier he lost to Abner Cotto who lost to some other guy who lost to some other guy who went to the Olympics.

Methinks this will be one hell of a tough test for Walters. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses this one. Let's see who has improved the most since the Am's.
