Comments Thread For: Arif Magomedov Inks With Main Events, Back on 7/17

Main Events, led by promoter Kathy Duva, is known to be deeply associated with fighters from Eastern Europe. Its biggest star is light heavyweight kayo king and Super WBA / IBF / WBO champion of the world Sergey Kovalev. Main Events also works with heavyweight contender Vyacheslav Glazkov, light heavyweight Vasily Lepikhin and light middleweight Dmitry Mikhailenko as well as some other EE boxers.

It ain’t stopping at this point. Duva’s newest addition to her team is red hot middleweight prospect Arif Magomedov (15-0, 9 KOs) of Chekhov, Russia, by way of Kizlyar, Dagestan.

Saw his last fight on CBS Sports Network a couple weeks ago on the Commey-Mamadjonov undercard.

Took out Darnell Boone in the first round....looked good doing it, but can't take too much from it, Boone took the fight on very short notice.

Finally watched his fight with Boone, impressive but I don't take too much from it given Boone took it on 4 days notice and still weighed in 157lbs. Wish I could find his fight with Findley. He impressed me the most with his fight vs Patrick Mendy, a tough Adama/Thiam type fighter.

He turns 23 in August and already shows great IQ and power. I actually have to consider him a better prospect than Khytrov and I'm pretty excited about Ivegen.

Wow, on July 17th Magomedov is scheduled to fight 19-0 33 y.o. veteran Derrick Webster on Showtime.

I didn't know Webster dropped down from SMW, but this is another tough test for this kid. If he gets by Webster he'll have a better resume than Khytrov and as good of one as Korobov, before turning 23.

Not sure how Main Events is on Showtime, but maybe it has something to do when they dropped that lawsuit against Showtime & Haymon over Stevenson backing out on the Kovalev fight.
