Don't have any issue with catch weights, as long as it is not a Championship fight, but for a keep busy fight I think it is great. Reason is fighters do not struggle to make weight so they can keep them selves busy and sharp for future Championship fights.

Reminds me of when a few NBA coaches said they hate the Hack-a-Shaq, but they'll do whatever it takes to improve their chances of winning.Comment

By that token neither he nor Hearns are SMW champs either or should have had a title fight rematch?
How about Armstrong v Ross for the welterweight title at a catchweight?
We shouldn't be calling Armstrong a 3 weight world champ then.
There's plenty more examples I could throw out there tbh.Comment

I agree.
I just dont see how anyone can call that a great win for Pac.
It doesnt matter what you thought BEFORE that fight.
The fact that Hoya did not rehydrate, despite being put on IV, proved how drained he was.
Anyone would have beaten that 145lb shrink-wrapped version of Hoya.
Every top welter would have beaten him, as would most top 140lb'ers.
Marquez would have stopped him !
Lets face it, it was an exhibition match between guys who are 3 divisions apart. And it is easier to jump two divisions, then to drop one division.
Guys who think Golovkin would beat Mayweather at 154, are dreaming.Comment

Then throw them dude.By that token neither he nor Hearns are SMW champs either or should have had a title fight rematch?

You have completely missed the point.
BTW, do you understand that Armstrong fought under the old divisional system, so 21lbs separated those divisions.
We have 17 divisions today, and yet we see Peterson fighting at 141, and Canelo fighting at 155.
If you cant understand the difference, lets just leave it there.
There are only two reasons to require a catchweight.....
1) you are not good enough to compete against your opponent because of a disparity in size
2) you are attempting to drain your opponent to gain an unfair advantage
Neither are acceptable.
Boxing is all about divisional supremacy, so lowering the standards within boxing is completely unnecessary, and detrimental to the sport.
As I said..... if you cant understand why catchweights are completely unnecessary, then lets just leave it there.
Just wondering, are you a Pacquiao fan ?Comment
