Well boxing is doing something right. Because they just had a PPV do damn near 5M buys, which is unheard of. MMA never has, and never will approach that. There will always be someone willing to starve themselves for a payday. The real problem lies with the lack of one governing body. The UFC model for MMA works when it comes to making the best fight the best, which is ultimately what attracts new fans but an effective monopoly creates other problems.
As for guys being willing to starve themselves. I'll repeat, their fault. A guy like Bernard Hopkins is an example. Once he finally got the Tito fight, he was constantly in talks with guys in higher divisions. A Roy Jones rematch. He even had tentatively signed to jump to cruiserweight and fight James Toney and backed out at the 11th hour. But X stayed true to himself, wouldn't sell out, eventually baited Oscar up to fight him, and has had a long career making good money. Guys don't have to sellout for a payday, they choose. Which is why I have very little sympathy.Comment

What does 160 have to do with it ?His weight is 160 not 168. Cotto and Canelo both fight at 160 albeit as catchweight kings. Cotto and Canelo have no better resume at 160 than GGG but it's all irrelevant anyway - how can you say someone has a poor resume when every elite fighter at his weight is petrified of fighting him?!
You know that Canelo has never fought at MW, and has never fought a MW.
A bit dishonest really.....
..... because Canelos resume pisses all over Golovkins, and Canelo is a kid.Comment

Mayweather at 154.
Not only would Mayweather beat Golovkin at 154, I dont think that Golovkin would even perform as well as Canelo did.
Canelo has more to his game, and Golovkins powah wont be there at JMW.
Mayweather is a fkn good fighter aye ?

I cant stand this fanboy ignoranceGolovkin makes 160 comfortably so all your talk of range is nonsense. He's linked to 168lb fighters as no one a 160 will fight him but he's certainly no super middleweight - he could probably make 154. As for Canelo and Cotto not being middleweights, they both fight over 154 and Cotto is supposedly the middleweight lineal champion so that comment is also completely nonsensical. I'll ask again, can you name one opponent Cotto or Canelo has faced (win or lose) that the current GGG wouldn't stop?
" over 154 " =/= middleweight
Anyone who thinks that " over 154 " =/= middleweight, can stop whining about the catchweight. K?
And anyone who thinks that a guy who weighs-in at 153 is a middleweight, should put down his Golovkin doll, puto n his Golovkin jammy's, and get back to bed.
Cant you guys just keep it real ?Comment

If 155 is middleweight - you absolute idiot - then Golovkin wont mind a 155 catchweight, right?
Why is 155 referred to as a catchweight, and not middleweight ?
Only an absolute idiot would attempt to insinuate that 155 is middleweight.
Middleweight is 160.
And only an absolute idiot would attempt to insinuate that a guy who weighs 153 is a genuine middleweight.
Fanboy clown !Comment
