Comments Thread For: Tarver Unsure How Mayweather-Khan Sells After Algieri

Former champion Antonio Tarver was working behind the broadcast booth and called the action two weeks ago on Spike TV, as Amir Khan battled Chris Algieri in the Premier Boxing Champions main event from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The fight with Algieri, who was coming off one-sided drubbing at the hands of Manny Pacquiao, was viewed as an audition for the British star to solidify his worth for a fight with WBC/WBO/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the fall.

Tarver and the title itself makes a solid point.

Agreed, this is why a few days ago that Khan might have lost his chance to get the fight, because Mayweather always fight people who were coming off big wins, that way it fools the casual fans that his opponent has a better chance at upsetting him.

But on the flip side this makes Khan more attractive to Team #48 because they always pick fighters who has had a bad last fight.

I'm so glad we got Tarver's take here.

I love getting the opinion of a roided-out, cheating disappointment who is a crappy announcer and an even crappier person.

Your opinion "tests positive" for: bull ****.

The PPV will sell a lot more than 200 K, which ironically is the amount Haymon paid for bailing you out of jail.

i disagree with this to a certain degree, the fight was excellent because both guys are warriors who dont back down. the main difference is algieri having a proper trainer (john jackson) and getting used to fighting at 147. the fight in china doesnt really count for me as that was chris's worst performance.

floyd is too good and its a pain to pick a good opponent for him, guys like canelo and pacman were terrible against him and us fans had high hopes for a good bout.
