Guerrero: Pacquiao was in a difficult situation

MANILA, Philippines – Former welterweight champion Robert Guerrero thinks Manny Pacquiao was put in a difficult situation when faced with a dilemma of possibly postponing his super fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao created a furor by revealing that he was fighting with an injured shoulder against Mayweather, which is why he was unable to give out the best performance.

Guerrero, who also lost to Mayweather, said he can't blame fans if they were disappointed with the way the match turned out. But fans shouldn’t be hard on Pacquiao either, he said.

“How big the event was and the magnitude of it, it kind of pretty much put you in a bad situation,” said Guerrero on Fight Hub TV.

''How do you kill that event with such magnitude by saying 'oh, my shoulder's messed up.' Fighters are warriors, we're gonna come in and fight no matter what. You got a busted knuckle, busted rib, bummed ankle... we're warriors. We come to fight.''

Pacquiao claimed that he re-injured his shoulder midway his mega fight with Mayweather. He said the torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder was something he sustained many years ago.

Guerrero said he understand Pacquiao's predicament since he had a similar injury in the past.

''It's a killer, man. Especially if you've been suffering it for a long time, you tend to block it out and just overcome it. After a while even though it's there, it subconsciously [affects you] at fights,'' he said.

''But since I got that surgery, I got a whole year off, make sure that I get the proper therapy and do the right stuff, man, I came back great.''

Pacquiao recently received treatment for the injury and is expected to stay away from boxing until 2016.

Regarding Mayweather, Guerrero said the American did a splendid job on Pacquiao.

''Mayweather's speed is the biggest factor in that fight,'' he said. ''His reaction and his counters make the most difference in most of his fights.''

No one is willing to answer the question, why did Pacquiao want potent pain killers for an injury that was not present at the start of the bout.

Let me just ask you a question, how do you know what was present and t what was not? Because you didn't notice anything personally doesn't make it matter of fact. Just saying "I didn't see a shoulder injury..." Means nothing of certainty, right?
