He quit in the sense that he didn't continue when it seemed he could have given a bit more. He didn't want to go out on his shield and packed in immediately. I don't fault the guy for grabbing his check early, but this was a BS fight and waste of time.
Did Geale quit?

While I truly agree with you, Adam. I also think the paying public has the right to form an opinion and label this guy a quitter for putting up such minimal effort and packing it in early. People who paid to be in attendance and us, HBO subscribers, feel a little cheated when this type of stuff goes down after we expect a fight.Yes he quit....
But if you have never boxed, or been in a ring with Miguel cotto dropping bombs on you, then you need to stfu....
I have no problem with geale doing a no mas... It was clear he was outgunned and taking a huge beating..
For those you haven't boxed, yeah geale is a quitting bytch, but to those that have been in the ring, we can understand geale getting pummeled and stopping..,
There is no one on this forum that has ever had Miguel cotto bombing on them... Until then, everyone needs to stfu about quitting
I'm also not a fan of guys calling pro boxers pussies, cowards, cheaters, runners, quitters, ect. However, I feel that the people who put up their cash to watch a boxing match have a right to speak their minds even if they've never laced up a pair.Comment

Thing is, he didn't "pack it in early" in my opinion. Not on his accord anyway. If anything Cotto made him pack it in early. Cotto caught him square as f**k in an exchange, and that was all she wrote. He probably knew he was done immediately after that devastating shot, but decided to give it one more whirl...and he went down quickly again. And there was still plenty of time left in the round if I recall correctly...whether he kept trying or not, that fight was 100% over.Comment

The ref said are you alright, and Geale shook his head and muttered no. What the **** is with this thread. Geale looked like Algieri in there faceing Pac. He had nothing to threaten Cotto with and was just a matter of time before Cotto caught himComment

Had a whiff of being rigged but not positive, the left hook that dropped him was solid, but even before that Geale gave me the feeling that he wasn't really trying. Hard to say but didn't leave the feeling that the whole thing was on the up and up, no matter what the way he quit was lame.Comment

He did the same thing Ortiz did against Maidana but he didn't get called a coward for it, Ortiz was getting pummled by Maidana and his eyes were beginning to close, he knew he didn't have much left and he didn't wanna take any unnecessary punishment, people forget that boxing is a job to these people, sometimes u have a bad day like everybody else.
Geale did the exact same thing against GGG also, nobody said nothing, americans fighters have it hard.Last edited by Ahmed_Ismail; 06-08-2015, 02:05 AM.Comment
