No voluntary in between, no rematch in between, no fight at another weight class in between. Whoever wins fights Golovkin NEXT.

Why is Cotto so against giving that guarantee? He claims in interviews that he would 'possibly' fight GGG after Canelo, so why not make it official? What is stopping him? Why do his fans try to invent excuses for him not to give that guarantee? Cotto is not Floyd. He knows how to read and how to sign his name. There is nothing preventing him from signing an agreement that obligates him to actually live up to the obligation he is avoiding by fighting Canelo in the first place.

There isn't a set of balls among the entire bunch of them!
No, GGG wants step aside money and a guarantee.

Lol @ team GGG, the facts are simple, this fight is worth $$$$ to the WBC if GGG believes he is coming between the WBC and a huge sanctioning fee, he is mistaken. Like the WBC are gonna say ' Hey Mr G, you are fighting Miguel next we'll tell him he has too' or some other bs, lmao. Cotto can drop that WBC belt any time he feel, he still the LINEAL champ, ie the reason Canelo wants him so bad right now. By the end of all this Canelo gonna be fighting GGG and he gonna have to accept whatever they offer him, or hike.

I'm absolutely certain I read the WBC have said in no uncertain terms already, Cotto will fight Canelo upon successive defence against Geale before GGG is mandated.

Apparently, according to Sulaiman after the GGG-Monroe fight, the money is not a problem but Cotto and Canelo have both refused to sign a guarantee that the winner fights GGG. That doesn't say very much for their self confidence or willingness to fight the best.

Sign the paper! It doesn't cost anything extra!

Cotto should make a lowball offer & then drop the belt if GGG doesn't accept. Cotto is doing GGG favors to do much beyond that. GGG needs Cotto more than Cotto needs GGG.

Hell after Cotto's impressive performance last night I wouldn't be surprised if Mayweather comes in & swipes Cotto for his swan song Sept. 12 fight & to make Canelo & Khan both lose their ****ing minds.

You don't read very well do you? Golovkin was proclaimed mandatory when he defeated Rubio and won the interim title.

Still posted on the WBC website... http://wbcboxing.com/wbceng/news/422...-face-golovkin

Mauricio Sulaiman, World Boxing Council President, confirms that Miguel Cotto must face Gennady Golovkin in an obligatory defence.

Kazakh “GGG” defeated Britain's Martin Murray, last weekend, successfully defending his WBC interim middleweight championship. Cotto is the absolute Champion of the division, while Genaddy is the official challenger.

However, the Champion has a voluntary defence. If he wins he must fight Golovkin.

“ Miguel Cotto will have a voluntary defense. He will choose his rival. But the winner will have to face Golovkin” Mauricio stressed.

Possible opponents for Cotto are Timothy Bradley and Erislandy Lara. The fight Is scheduled for June at a venue to be determined.
It would not be difficult for GGG and his team to pursue this in court to force WBC to enforce their mandatory. They could easily get an injunction preventing the Cotto - Canelo fight from being sanctioned. This would put the WBC in a very bad light and the bad publicity would erase the good steps they have been making.

I doubt WBC will allow things to go that far. They will force Cotto and Canelo to sign a guarantee or they will strip Cotto of the title.

Cotto is doing GGG favors? How by making him wait now 12 months and still no desire to fight him at all? GGG needs a shot at unifying, doesn't matter if Cotto is the champion or not. If it wasn't for politics and being able to write checks Cotto wouldn't be champion now and that's a fact. Martinez cashed out and that's fine I can respect that but to act like that wasn't the case is being flat out blind. Floyd isn't getting a shot at that belt because the only agreement golovkin is going to make is involving canelo because he knows Floyd will not fight him and he's not about to get into another eliminator race for a belt he's earned a shot at.

Cmon man don't be dense. Cotto is one of the biggest names in boxing & GGG is one of the most exciting guys to watch that the average or casual fan doesn't know. A fight with Cotto gets GGG's name in the mainstream boxing fans mouths & likely provides GGG with his first PPV & potentially turns him into a PPV star. GGG should be blowing Cotto, Roach & Jay Z for that fight if he understands how much upside is for the taking if he beats Cotto impressively.

Golovkin doesn't care if he gets Cotto or not, he wants the belt. He'd be foolish to hold his breath waiting for Cotto.
Totally Disagree! He needs that fight a lot more than he needs that Belt! If he doesn't get Canelo or Cotto in the ring, like Sergio Martinez, his chances become a PPV Star will pass him by. I don't see him become a PPV Draw without one of those fighters as his Dance Partners!
