If i'm going to be honest this wasn't the best miguel cotto of the past year even. He was physically in better shape and stronger, but he had a little ring rust in those first 2 rounds he was bouncing too much and doing too much of what was his downfall which was trying to box more then he should have and letting his opponents start gaining confidence down the stretch and getting too comfortable. Then roach gave him great instructions in the corner in telling him not to let geale get off first, then he started mixing in some more aggression but still boxing well and slipping punches well never forgetting his defense and started putting on a show.

He won every round regardless though and looked spectacular overall, I don't think the catchweight played as big a role in the outcome of this fight as people think.

    canelo-cotto is a 50/50 fight 100%.

I think canelo will win the fight if I'm going to be really honest, but I would love to see cotto win the fight since he's nearing the end of his career, i expect a farewell fight for cotto in june 2016.

Cotto vs Canelo. GGG can unify wit Lemieux in the mean time.

Cotto looked good. But after forcing 2 consecutive fighters below the mw limit and telling Max he's not a middleweight. He needs to vacate that title

All you guys complaining about cotto not giving GGG a shot are crazy and simply put cotto haters.

For one Cotto began his career at 135-140lbs and has accomplished championship belts on 4 divisions. So if you guys were to compare Cotto's accomplishment vs GGG you would have to imagine how well GGG would do three divisions above his natural which would be cruiser weight or light heavy and I'll be damn if GGG can KO anybody at those weight classes.

Just saying cant compare apple to oranges and BTW even though this was a catchweight cotto only weighted 153.6 to defend against a natural 160lbs.

Smoke and mirrors. No different to a bull being weakened before the matador puts on a show for the gullible audience.

That means he's not going to fight a skilled, powerful natural MW like Golovkin.
lol cotto just weight in under the jr middleweight limit maybe ggg needs to quit being a belt chaser and realize no one gives a **** about belts anyway

Miguel looked great, but I expected him to. Geale was supposed to make Miguel look great.

Did the weight play a role? Maybe, but not much. Geale is simply levels below the top fighters and that was shown once again. He was getting outclassed, out thought and out punched and what was expected to happen did happen.

Canelo will be a whole different scenario.

                    Stop it.

Miguel is a middleweight. Floyd and Manny are welterweights...it doesn't matter what weight they started at given they were all very young, they have all grown into their respective weights over the years and are what they are.

Golovkin didn't turn pro until his mid 20's, he had already grown into his weight. Moving up doesn't happen as much when you're in your mid-to-late 20's and now early 30's.

Exactly, my point being cotto being at the tail end of his career and still able to look good at MW by resorting to skills against opponent at higher weight class than he is. There is no way anyone can say Cotto is natural MW because he is in his mid 30s, I mean he only weighted 153.6, his frame is smaller compared to any natural 160lbs.

He has faced all top P4P in each division and granted lost some while GGG is in his prime but has not faced someone in Top P4P.

I'm a fan of Both GGG and Cotto but GGG has not face the adversity Cotto has to this day.

If we were to compare them both to a even level, it would be like saying GGG had already competed against Ward, Lemieux, Froch, and maybe a few others.

I always laugh when someone keeps bringing Cotto ducking GGG, its like they started to watch boxing 2 years ago.
