I was and I am a big critic of cw-s but please...
What's happening is really just the more biased half of Golovkin fans are just salty as fuck because Cotto beat Geale almost the same way as Golovkin did. I expected Geale to be a skeleton but he didn't look that bad on the weigh in compared to other weigh in photos of him and he didn't look a shot, drained fighter at all in the ring. Cotto was better than him, like he is classes above him. Golovkin is also classes above Geale. That's all. I don't think less of Golovkin now, I always knew that his weight class is a garbage except him and a few other guys. I maintain my opinion about Golovkin, that he is a very good fighter but also overrated here and we should witness him to fight a real elite opponent before we say that he is elite.
I don't like when GGG fanboys take the credit what's due from someone just because they are salty as hell that Cotto didn't fight GGG yet.
I also think that Cotto should drop that belt because he isn't mw and he shouldn't hold on that belt BUT firstly I don't see you crucify any other fighter who doesn't unify within a year after he wins a title and secondly Golovkin accepted to step aside so end of discussion...

ggg resume is dog ****, everyone knew this already. he has yet to face anyone credible. i knew this before the fight and cotto just confirmed it after the fight. ggg still knocks out cotto though

The only people I think less of right now are Cotto and Roach who felt the need to drain Geale down to zombie level for the fight. They should be ashamed of themselves and they are a disgrace to the sport. Anyone who is celebrating this hollow victory should be ashamed of themselves as well.

There is no reason to think less of Golovkin, he fought a fully trained and ready opponent who was not drained to gain an artificial advantage. An opponent who was ready and able to fight back. And he defeated him cleanly.

My opinion is the same. A very good strong fighter in a weak division and his resume leaves a lot to be desired.

He would beat Cotto up badly but Cotto is junior middleweight with a hustle at 160 right now.

^this^ is an answer I can respect, short, unbiased, & straight to the point. People r jumping all over this thread like it was direct assault on GGG. Geale is/was a dilusion of a good win for both guys but ggg fans are so insecure they can't c that.

& to everyone that's jumping on my comment about "weight aside" let me start by saying, I know it's hella hard to lose weight & dehydrating yourself is very unhealthy but no1 held a gun to Geales head & made him agree to the fight. If Geale would've collapsed on the scales it would've been no1d fault but his own & his teams $>health. Besides Geale didn't come in looking like DLH b4 Pacquiao or like cracked/chapped lipped Canelo pre Floyd. Then he came in at 180, now to me if cotto would've made a rehydration clause along with the catchweight ala AB, that woulda been dirty...

And put Froch in against GGG and after that fight Froch will be an old guy ready to retire. Let GGG beat Ward and Ward will be a guy who wasn't ready after a long layoff. Let him destroy Cotto and Cotto will be a guy who was too small and ready to retire. And on and on and on...

You guys will always have a reason to disparage a GGG opponent after they lose. There is not one fighter out there that Golovkin could beat that would not have a ready made excuse for the haters.

Let Cotto beat GGG in the ring with no catchweight and at 160 and I will be happy to say that Cotto is the better fighter. I will give any fighter his due when he fights a fair, clean fight with no artificial conditions to give them an advantage. It is not my fault that Cotto is not such a man and that his fans support such a fighter is a disgrace.
