Comments Thread For: Warren: Brook, Hearn Talking Arrant Nonsense on Khan

The jaw-dropping cops and robbers scenario that has engulfed football convinces me of one thing. That there must never be a Blatter in boxing.

No despotic panjandrum of pugilism who can dispense favours and call them in when it suits him.

Many would like to see boxing ruled by just a single governing body and in an ideal world that would seem a reasonable solution.

But as FIFA gate has shown there are inherent dangers when one authority, run by an apparently unassailable supremo, albeit one who has now belatedly fallen in his sword, is given too much power.

Another strike against Khan's efforts at securing the fight

If the sentiments here seem to hold, Warren is still a homer for Khan, the guy he promoted from his debut until the move across the pond (where he signed with Golden Boy).

Given the two options, Floyd Mayweather Jr is now weighing an undisputed welterweight championship fight (WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO/Ring) against Kell Brook on Sky Box Office, against a fight with Amir Khan on Box Nation.

Brook is the by far bigger UK money option, while also seemingly making for the better fight. lol

Khantards will now be huge Frank Warren fans. I remember some of the stuff Warren said about Khan after he left to go to Golden Boy

Khan is now fighting on his station again and we know he hates Hearn.

That's an interesting point. I wonder if Hearn could actually potentially block Khan-Mayweather from being on Sky Box Office. Would be quite funny.

Box Nation doesn't have the model to satisfy Mayweather's demands I wouldn't think. Unless they start doing PPVs.

Are you actually that daft to think that Hearn has the power to stop Sky Sports generating revenue just because he hates Khan? Lmao...do you honestly think if the Khan Vs Mayweather fight was made, he could just click his fingers and say "sorry but i'm going to block Khan and Mayweather from sky box office, just because i dislike him and i don't care how many millions you will lose". Your Anti-Khan hatred has become that strong that you starting to sound desperate.

I enjoy his weekly opinion pieces. He IS opinionated but what you are hearing from him is based on nearly 50 years of experience from INSIDE boxing - not from outside as is the case with most journalists. He is a fairly decent writer as well. Note I said writer.

I would love to see Brook - Khan but as big as fight as it is now it will be a lot bigger if Brook will get some bigger names on his resume and Khan would have a decent showing against Mayweather - so I can understand why Khan wants to wait.

Its the same with many matchups. Golovkin Ward can wait 18-24 months and it should be a bigger fight. Quigg Frampton will be bigger if Quigg could beat Donaire or Santa Cruz.

No but it could be a potential sticking point in negotiations. Sky would obviously want their fighter to face Mayweather and they can offer Box Office whereas Khan is on BoxNation. I don't think Khan-Mayweather does significantly more buys than Mayweather-Brook at this point. So if Mayweather is really deciding between Khan and Brook, he may choose Brook.

And please stop with the "hatred" stuff. I supported Amir Khan for years. I just recognise when he's being a b1tch and he doesn't deserve to get the Mayweather fight based off his cowardice. You can't remove your head from certain boxers arses.

Everything that Frank Warren says is aimed squarely at devaluing Hearn's growing hold on British boxing. He's a dinosaur.
