    Per boxing scene article

    Salas also requested Mayweather for a signed letter ***8220;relinquishing his WBA/WBC 154 pound titles and stating his wish to keep his WBO welterweight title***8221; which is in keeping with the WBO rules that prohibit a fighter from holding belts in multiple weight classes at the same time.***8221;

    That's what they did too Martinez when he won the WBC middleweight title.

    The WBC are the ones letting him make his own rules ala Martinez decision.

        WBO is Arum's *****. If it were Pacquiao instead, they would let him keep the belt

            Floyd "has" to vacate the 154 lbs titles cuz the WBO rules state that a fighter can not hold belts in multiple weight classes (you know how floyd defended his 154 lbs title vs maidana at 147 instead of against another 154 lbr)
            Wouldnt that be kind of a 'jurisdictional' issue? WBO shouldnt have say about completely different organizational belts in any weight class, i could be wrong. I can understand Algieris situation, he had the 140lb WBO title challenging for their 147lb title.

              WBO prez is completely full of ****. He said that he informed Floyd that if he beat Manny the belt would be vacated and him awarding Floyd the title was ceremonial.

                  IDK exactly but they stated as their rules that no WBO champ can hold "belts" in multiple weight classes

                  (d) No WBO Champion may hold titles in more than one Weight Division. If a WBO Champion wins a WBO Championship in a higher or lower division, the WBO Champion shall have Ten (10) Days to determine which Weight Division the WBO Champion will retain. The other Weight Division will be declared vacant.

                    How is he "full of ****"? Floyd still has the belt yes/no?

                      Exactly my point. He just said in the letter "Pay me 200k and maybe sort of kinda drop your belts at 154 and **** what I said before." Money grubbing clowns.
