People seem to forget that fighters can improve..

What people really are underestimating about Maidana is that he is an adapter, some type of mutant fighter. Everytime he fights a new style, he gains something from that fight. Like Mayweather for instance, in the second fight he started using backwards footwork and feints to counter. Maidana is a deceptively smart fighter and he has the best jab in my opinion in the division. Whenever Mayweather hurt Maidana to the body in the first fight, Maidana will play poker and will throw the jab at there, to keep Mayweather off.

Maidana will unmercifully destroy Matthyse and I doubt he will get hit much.

Found it. Also, great point by Brickyardigan. Some fighters like Maidana can improve. Intelligent fighter. This gif proves it. Show me one gif where Lucas rolled a punch from a top-level ATG boxer. Just one.

Apparently the gif I posted isn't showing up on some browsers. Here's the same gif from a different domain.

Seeing as you want me to play your ****** gif game:

          Perfect slip and counter

Defensive awareness to slip and parry even when going for the kill

Simple slip and counter (Matthysse does this throughout entire fights)

Coming from a big Matthysse fan I think his defence is lacking. He tries to block too many shots with parries where he could use a bit more headmovement/ or use shoulders to deflect shots. His chin is also often quite high. The end result is quite a few fights where he has had cuts and swelling on his face. He does have good control of range and rarely gets caught with jabs.

Maidana isnt a defensive genius but he has looked a lot better since joining up with Garcia. Keeps his head off centre and his chin tucked which makes him a difficult target.

Both are extremely offensive fighters so neither are going to be all that elusive.

Maidana doesn't get hit by "bungalows" doe

Great defence, Maidana is out on his feet.

You see, we can all nitpick. A few gifs don't prove ****. Matthysse is better technical fighter and most of his defence is done the textbook way. Maidana is the opposite and being unconventional is his greatest asset. I'm a big fan of both along with fellow Argentine Maravilla and I have watched plenty of both to make any decision/

This is much closer to the truth, Matthysse is very good at controlling range and gets hit only when he's in close trying to trade as that's when you're most vulnerable. Maidana has also looked infinitely better since joining Robert Garcia. Neither exactly boxers but Matthysse is a boxer-puncher and Maidana is brawler with skills.

Are you trolling? That defense is clearly not as good as Maidana's. Chino showed more skills. Against better opposition than Matthysse on top of that.
