Cotto needs Golovkin more than Golovkin needs him. When Cotto beats Geale I hope he will fight Alvarez. In the meantime I will watch tonights fight knowing the outcome in advance. It's all about the money.
      Uh...No. That's a negative.

Now lets look at the fact that Cotto was the WBO champ and he was the one that was forced to accept a catch weight against the challenger, or the WBO would strip him of the belt and allow Pac to fight for that same vacant WBO belt. Here, Cotto is the champ and chose to fulfill his voluntary defense against Daniel Geale, Daniel Geale had an option to take the fight at a catch weight or not, all he would lose is a pay day, or rather "miss" a pay day because you cant lose something you never had. Now although I expect Cotto to fight GGG at a catch weight (if it were to happen) I would be a little disappointed because GGG is the mando and shouldnt have to fight the reigning champ at a catch weight. Daniel Geale is not a mandatory challenger so the catch weight is a moot point.
I specifically remember back when Pacquiao and Cotto were talking about the fight and the catch weight was the topic. Cotto kept saying if Pacquiao wanted to fight for the Welterweight Championship, he needed fight up to the 147 lbs limit.

The only one who sounds like a little boy is you, a real man would try to prove himself inside the ring not outside of it. He wasn't always a coward, most people here were Cotto fans before(including myself), but now he is and not everybody feels the need to defend him for his bull****. Real man are consistent, let me ask you something what was your opinion of Pacquiao's catchweight when he fought Cotto? Be real.

3 Pounds and a bunch of bull

Here we go again, catch weights and all the nonsense. Geale normally comes in at 159 or so for weigh in. 157 is not that much of a difference. If he has that bad of issues making that weight then he probably should not be fighting at middleweight, that is why we have super middleweight (168) Geale normally fights around 170 so that means I would only have to sweat 2 pounds of his fighting frame to make the super middleweight class. Same when Cotto fought Pac where he had to weigh in at 145 24 hour PRIOR to the fight. He lost but not by two pounds. Geale is probably going to lose to Cotto but not by two pounds... it is going to be because he is facing a 4 division world champion that has been in with much better fighters than he. Cotto losing against Trout tells you as much about this fight as you would learned of it by reading a trivia book, which is to say NOTHING! Trout and Geale are very different fighters. Can Geale win, of course! He is tall, crafty and has a height and weight advantage.
People hating on fighters because they are trying to get any advantage they can on the negotiating table is silly... they ALL do that!
So while trying to ignore all the bull about 3 pounds I will watch the fight knowing that a future hall of fame veteran is fighting a three time middleweight champ for the MW title. And that my friends is what I like about boxing.

If the alphabet organizations had any guts, they would ban catch weights in their "title" fights.

He brought up a great point. Pacquiao was fighting the top welterweights years before he was big enough. Hes still a very small welterweight. He weighed 152 fight night again mayweather which was the highest hes ever weighed fight night. That's the difference between what he did and what cottos doing. If cotto ever wants to be respected as a middleweight, he will have to face the best or move down. Put up or shut up

Not what I was saying. I was talking about rehydration weights. Pacquiao was coming into the ring 'unofficially' over 140 while he was still fighting at 130.
