I love how cotto keeps b*thing about what Pacquiao did to him,but let's take a look at the two situations. Cotto is a small fighter, about 5'6 or 5'7 and his previous fight to Pacquiao was against joshua clottey, and cotto got on the scales at 146. The catch weight for the Pacquiao fight was at 145,so cotto had to drop ONE POUND,and at time he kept going on about he was in the best shape of his life, how he was faster and stronger, and how there was no way that Pacquiao could beat him. That all changed, and he started crying "weight drained" when Pacquiao turned him into a bloody pulp. Now let's look at this situation. Geale is a fairly big fighter about 5'10,and he normally struggles to make 160,and the last time that he fought below 160,was in 2007,at 154. While its true that geale agreed to the catch weight, who wouldn't? If taking a catchwieght is the only way that you'll get a shot at the lineal belt, anyone would take the fight, but the champion should expect to be criticized for it. Imagine the ****storm that GGG would get if he suddenly came out and said "I'm only defending my two titles if the opponent comes below 158". The media, fans, and organizations would destroy him,and he'd be stripped immediately.

You mean like Hopkins vs ODH for the WBC, WBA, IBF & WBO titles at 156 lbs?

Or Martinez vs Williams II for the WBC title at 158 lbs?

Geale signed the contract because he wanted the payday. I agree with Cotto.

I'm not a fan of the catchweight, but Cotto is right. The contract was signed. A deal is a deal.

That's not what he stated in the article. He said that they signed the contract, but they are now complaining. That they should just shut up about it and honor the contract.

Why did Pacquiao fight Cotto at 145 lbs for when he already had fought ODH at 147 lbs?

Cotto is really on my last nerve, but you are correct. That said. I would'nt agree with him walking away from the fight unless Geale comes in over 160.
