Can we put this "everyone is scared of Thurman" rubbish to bed already? Same with Golovkin. They do what their managers tell them to do.

Haymon is Thurman's paymaster and he wants to make him into a bigger star so he put him in this low risk fight. That's the top and bottom of it.

Thurman can hoot and holler all he wants on camera and you guys can eat it up but at the end of the day, he answers to one man.
He booked a fight because Haymon has so many time slots bought and needs to fill them. I believe the initial rumors was that he was supposed to fight Porter on June 20th but needed a couple more weeks and so Haymon needed Porter to fight Broner to fill that date instead.

Thurman is avoided. Guerrero held off on the fight as long as he could, Maidana turned it down as well to get Broner. Brook doesnt want a piece, Mayweather rather fight Khan, etc.

Pretty much anyone worth talking about is tied up. This was discussed in another thread. His options were pretty much Berto, Alexander or Collazo and maybe a couple other guys with a name, but no one in the top ten was available for a July date.On top of that we don't even know with any certainty who was willing to fight him. Out of the names tossed around, Collazo and Alexander are the only two I've ever heard mention Keith's name as far as wanting a fight. That said. Is this a great fight? No, but out of the names he could of fought I'm good with Collazo because I like the guy and have no problem with him getting another payday and a shot at glory.

Neither of these were mandatories like Dan was for Brook which you always fail to mention.

          "Still a Brook fan doe!"

He booked a fight because Al Haymon told him that's when he's fighting.

Brook doesn't want a piece? According to who? Thurman booked a fight in July when Brook had a date in August in the UK

Brook has said he'd love to fight Thurman numerous times. Just cos Thurman is brash and loud and goes on camera hollering people's names, he gives off this false impression that people are scared of him. *** outta here with that hot air nonsense. You do what YOUR BOSS tells you to do.

Guerrero held off fighting him cos there was no money in it. He'd just come off making $3m against Mayweather. Maidana chose Broner over Thurman - LOL who wouldn't at the time? Broner was a much bigger name.

Thurman does what Haymon tells him to do. Just because he's loud and he's a puncher, people think everyone is scared of him.

Virgil Hunter made some interesting comments about him recently saying he has stories from the amateurs about Thurman not having the best set of whiskers himself.

Good for Tampa. It'll be nice for them to celebrate a championship. Seeing as how the Blackhawks are going to take the Cup in 5.

Not a fan of the match-up, but with :

Khan just coming off a fight + not wanting to face him
                Pacquiao rehabilitating a shoulder injury
Maidana possibly not able to fight this year
Brook just coming off a fight + wanting to face Rios
                Porter being locked up w/Broner
                Bradley being locked up w/Vargas

I can't really criticize Keith. Would much rather he stay active and show case his skill set than sit/stay inactive and wait for the fights to happen. As long as there's a decent undercard I have no problem with this. Stay active, fight near home and make some $$. Guys fight so irregular these days you'd think they were afraid of making money.

Plus time-frame wise if Keith wins impressively without receiving damage then he could still potentially put himself in line to be Floyd's opponent in September.

Youre the one who said he's not being avoided. I showed you where he was. People would rather take much easier fights like Frankie Gavin and Brandon Rios and make just as much. Its possible Porter also didnt want that fight and had to accept a catch weight for Broner

I really hope Collazo comes to fight ..Collazo when on his game is a very difficult boxer to beat .This could expose Thurman but all depends what Collazo shows up..If Thurman blasts him out of there though who does he fight ?
