A win over Cotto does little to nothing to legitimize the hype machine. Andre Ward is arguably the best fighter in the world and resides in a division GGG claims to be willing to fight in. A win over Ward legitimizes GGG and probably crowns him the heir apparent P4P King for when Floyd retires or loses. But none of them want tbat fight. Too scared it will knock the train off the track much like what happened to their boi Matthysse. So they'd rather sit around jerk'n off watching him KO ESPN fighters and calling out smaller fighters.

Exactly. They wanna DOWN Cotto, and in the same breath, they pretend a win over Cotto means GGG is the greatest ever.

The lames go so far as to discredit Geale for LOSING and yet, they want GGG to fight little Cotto as if Cotto has NO losses on his record.

The worst fans are those who cling to GGG out of desperation. Those who come from countries with NO boxing pedigree, suddenly get to act as if GGG represents them. Fck outta here... Bring your OWN flag silly peasants.

    War COTTO!

Ggg gives a damn about the title. He wants cotto. He will fight cotto without the title. He wants a big name on his resume. He has a lot of respect for cotto and I believe he would feel honored to fight cotto. Ggg is out for the respect and the money a fight with cotto brings. Methinks if geale was currently the lineal champ ggg would rather fight cotto.

That's what his dun azz gets. Thankfully he learned. Now he take all fights seriously. Even the trouts and the geales becuase those types are the most hungry.
i second your post, many people blame on diaz for the trout fight, but they dont consider diaz when it comes to the floyd fight, i think diaz did a good job with cotto... trout was just too tall and too fast for cotto, bad match IMO...

A verbal agreement is far from hbo having the "rights" to cottos next fight. If floyd calls that who cotto will fight next. One must have a legally binding contract to have any rights. Hbo doesn't have any rights over cotto.

So Cotto is no Ray Leonard. But neither are 99.9999999999999999999% of folks that have laced em up.

People think Cotto would do better with Roach in the corner against Floyd, how is that saying Diaz was a great trainer? Against Marg it worked (he was getting very gassed.) Against Floyd it worked enough (he gassed after 8, totally dead after 10) and against Trout, it didn't work at all, he looked gassed from the 4th round.

Essentially Cotto could deal with the insane training and sparring, but it caught up to him with Trout. He didn't help matters by coming in big for camp and sleeping on Austin a bit. The fact is though it's obvious that Roach is a much better fit for Cotto's style but more importantly his mentality and stamina. Diaz was maybe a B fit, Freddie is an A+.

Why do you need a tune up if you just finished fighting? That's what a tune up is for, fvking dim I swear.

Almost all past champs took tune up fights whether they were active or not.
When you fight four times a year, it is only natural that some fights will be against softer opponents as that is all that is available. A keep busy fight is different from a 'tune up'. When you fight ONCE per year, you have no excuse to not fight the top contender in your division. Especially when you are the lineal champion of that division. Anything less is an embarrassment to the sport and an insult to the fans.

Look, nobody gives a phukk about Cotto, what straps he wears, what shot 40 year he beat.

The bottom line is Canelo is the best in the world at 154, and Gennady is the best in the world at 160. Period. We can debate, argue, play the PPV numbers, play the P4P fantasyland cards, play Boxing politics, play the who's earned the right to _____, all a guy wants. Cotto stalled negotiations last time with Canelo, and it wasn't over terms. He and Freddie know, a loss to Canelo, and that's the end of he road, as we know it. He lost to Trout and looked horrible; undersized and his power had no effect. Now everyone blames his trainer for that showing. We forget, Cotto is a veteran and he fought the fight. He trained for the fight. Cotto is using Geale as a barometer to see how he fairs against a guy that big, but maybe doesn't have heavy hands. As for GGG, Cotto will never fight him. Canelo beats up Cotto if somehow that fight gets made. So go pee in s bottle and get your drug test over. Cotto at best should be fighting guys like Tim Bradley, Brandon Rios, Shawn Porter, Roberto Guerrero, Marcos Maidana, Juan Manuel Marquez, at a 150, 152 catch weight, since he's all about catch weights because "he earned the right".

Hating on Future Hall of Famer because your blinded by your fandumb is lacking of any boxing knowledge PERIOD!.!
If Cotto's brother had Canelo hurt, Miguel Angel Cotto would best him on skills and power alone. Would he be a good fight, yes similar styles, Cotto is the better and smarter fighter.

Cotto has fought the who's who, and win or lose every opponent has been forced through combat to acknowledge Cotto's pedigree, after each fight his opponents have battle wounds to show, and respect to give. Cotto hits back MOFOS!

                      WAR COTTO!
