Just realism the title and go back down to junior middleweight if your going to make every fighter fight at 157. It's the middleweight divisor for the title. Cotto is not a natural 160. He just went there to beat Martinez. So now go back down
WBC should just refuse to recognise it as a "middleweight title defence" because they are not fighting with a 160lb limit - there isnt a 157ld weight division!

But they wont, as that would mean turning down a Sanction fee!

Cotto isn't going to cancel the fight.

He'll probably just let Geale fight at 160.

        Assuming Cotto wins...
What weight will he demand for a fight with Canelo or GGG?
154.1 pounds with massive financial penalties?

Cotto the Puerto rican warrior, not a warrior in the ring but at the negotiating table. We need hoes like this out the sport, sitting on the middle weight belt for a year and then serving up **** like this. I dont appreciate seeing weight drained guys boxing on my TV and i dont look forward to Queen Cotto dragging out negotiations with canelo again, watch that fight not get made until early 2016.

canelo fights at 155 lbs and cotto at 157 lbs. just split the difference and make it at 156 lbs. shouldn't be too difficult to negotiate.

If Cotto walked away from the fight, the next time you would see him on HBO would be in the crowd at someone else's fight.

I kind of get the feeling Geale won't make the weight even if he wants to.

Who knows, maybe Cotto will be glad to find an excuse to back out. I don't get why he is fighting Geale now with Canelo fight on the horizon. High risk low reward fight. As Doug Fischer pointed out, disregard Cotto's Martinez fight and Geale's GGG fight, who would you have as a favorite then?

Hey pacmanis1, aren't you contradicting yourself? Your guy Pacquiao, wanted a catch weight of 145 lbs to fight Cotto, who was the welterweight 147 lb. Champion in 2009. By your argument, didn't Pacquiao put himself above the sport by insisting on the catch weight of 145? Or is Pacquiao exempt from being judged of placing himself above the sport because he was the A side?

Cotto asks for a CW, but then has no consequence in the contract? That makes no sense to me.
