Straight punches? DeGale has a varied arsenal which is Kessler's nightmare.

Kessler looked great against guys like Andrade who was basically a punching bag who stood there.

It's no coincidence that when he came up against guys who used speed, movement and angles, that he looked completely lost and basically mentally quit.
Kessler beat Froch exactly the same way Froch beat Kessler. Get over it.

Degale doesn't really have a varied arsenal though - Kessler's arsenal is way more varied! Degale has good feet, decent movement has a left hook and a right hook. That's about it. They sometimes come from different angles and sometimes he slaps a little - but Kessler's punch variety - especially in his prime - was way better. He was also a vicious body puncher, had a great uppercut, deadly left hook and a 1-2 that has knocked many people out.

Oh really? That's interesting considering the thread the other day I thought Kessler edged it but don't disagree with you thinking Froch won.

2009 Dirrell and 2015 aren't the same guy, I would argue.

He slaps with his punches all the time. His technique is boarderline poor.

He seems to be slapping hard now though, his last 3 fights the slaps seem to be concussive.

Sounds like I'm taking the mick but I'm not

Get over what? I scored the first fight, 7-5 to Froch as did many. Not a soul in the universe with any rationale score the second fight for Kessler.

Kessler's a textbook boxer. He has solid fundamentals but is very upright. Typical European style. If you want to teach someone the very basics of boxing then Kessler would be a good guy to watch.

What is this "prime" you're talking about? I saw him get embarrassed and almost stopped by a guy who "slapped a little" and threw shots from all angles in his prime.

DeGale's fluid and improvisational style is an absolute nightmare for him. Does Kessler even know what a Bolo Punch is? He has zero head movement - he'd get hit with that same shot Dirrell got flattened with all night.

                Wicked fight no doubt.

He seems like he's improved on that a little though. When I remember him slapping the most I literally think of the way he slapped Paul Smith all over the ring

There wasn't really many who scored the first fight for Froch either The scores were literally the same.

When was he close to getting stopped by Calzaghe? I don't remember that.

I don't think so at all. Kessler's textbook style would be enough to beat Degale.

This fight won't happen. Kessler would KO DeGale, Mikkel brings it for 12 rounds, even the faded twilight years Kessler last seen, DeGale wouldn't last the 12.

I don't think Rocky Fielding is ready for Degale yet. He hasnt faced a legitimate top 10 contender yet , so the juries still out on him yet.
The real man to watch in the division is Callum Smith. I think in 2-3 years he is gonna be the outstanding fighter in the Super Middleweight division.
