"Some no doubt will want Mayweather there as well."

Yeah, he won the biggest fight in decades and beat the best opponent by far of anyone else last month.

DeGale was fighting in his opponent's home country. I'm always impressed by boxers who are not afraid to travel and who win titles on the road.

Floyd was in his home town as always, with his home town ref there to permit him to clamp his opponent's arms. He was fighting an injured, faded opponent from a country far away. Pacquiao had been stopped four times in the past and hasn't been the same since he was knocked out cold.

And still, Floyd didn't win impressively.
What is more impressive-defeating the #2 ranked p4p fighter by a margin of 10-2 or 9-3, defeating someone who had never been knocked down, or knocking out a no hoper?

Where the fight is has never been as important as the stature of the opponent defeated.

Give it up Tunney, you may not like it, but Floyd is the fighter of the month and there isn't really any debate about it.

This specific situation wouldn't be dependent on being a fanboy. It's just obvious in this case that beating the #2 p4p fighter far eclipses anything anyone did in May.

You voted Povetkin. Really? Now that's bias.

You had a chance to contradict everything said about you on NSB and the Thunderdome by just making the regular thread you make each month. Instead, predictably, you go this route.

Be a boxing fan before a bigot for once. At the very least, keep your usual stuff out of the FOTM threads. Most of us think this is a valuable thread, even though we have to deal with your warped ideology at times. Do you have to taint every thread you make?

Floyd proved he is the best of his era and better than you choose to give credit. There is no other credible choice for FOTM for May.

Just accept it and move on.

I picked Floyd, but had Algieri beat Khan he'd be my FOTY for shutting him up.

              Very very clearly Floyd Mayweather!
              Followed by Chunky DeGale!

Now that May 2 has passed some posters want to act like it wasn't that big of a deal, or because the fight was boring and one sided it doesn't mean much. Well it does. It's our generations mega fight. The two greatest fighters of our generation got together to box. Two fighters who are certainly in my top 30 P4P of all times list. Two fighters who have fought and beat everyone of their generation. Two men with two of the best résumés boxing has seen in the last 50 years.

One man won and won convincingly against a true rival, a nemesis.
Floyd beat the man who millions said he would never fight.

I included Floyd in the poll. Do you feel I should have put his name there twice? Would you be happy if all ten options were Floyd Mayweather?

Had Floyd won IMPRESSIVELY by stopping the smaller, faded, injured opponent (who had been previously stopped four times) I would have considered voting for him. But he was ran for much of the fight, and clamped his opponent's arm whenever he was close. To me, that was NOT an impressive way to win.
Stop tainting worthwhile threads with your bigotry.

Floyd's opponent was neither faded nor injured. He weighed 1 lb less than Floyd and is about 2 inches shorter.

Only in the minds and hearts of racists, bigots, Floyd haters and Manny fans is beating a man recognized as the 2nd or 3rd best boxer on the planet by such a wide margin not impressive.

Maybe Floyd should face a Willie Monroe Jr. level fighter or fight someone that hasn't fought in 17 months to get an easy KO to meet your standard of "impressive."

Interesting to see that while a few other guys got a few votes Makabu got 0 so far. His win over Mchunu is better than anybody's W from last month not named DeGale and Mayweather.

Not a Floyd fan by any possible description and I thought the fight was one of the most boring fights I've watched in my life, but he still gets my vote just for the fact that the fight has happened and life can move on in the boxing world. When he retires I'll vote him as boxer of the year or decade if it shuts people up and gets everyone to move on to other things.
