If Rios was more active, I could see this being a competitive fight with the edge still favoring Brook. Brook hasn't fought the best competition but at least he's been active which to me makes what could've competitive fight turn into a blowout. Brook by UD. Fighters with the Rios/Guerrero type style should be fighting 3+times a year to stay sharp. They don't have the athletic ability to fall back on in a fight when things go south, so they need to remain sharp all year. Problem is given their style, they make mucho dinero & take long layoffs in between fights & get fat.

Floyd Mayweather - not going to fight Brook. If he got the call, he'd drop everything to fight him.
Pacquaio - Injured. Fight is possible for later in the year but not now.
Khan - P*ssy. Won't accept the fight.
Thurman - Fighting the corpse of Collazo in July. Not available for August. Fight will need to be in America and will need Brook's name to be bigger hence fighting a name in Rios.
Bradley - Fighting Jessie Vargas. Not available for August I wouldn't think. Possible for later in the year.
Porter - Already easily beaten, fighting Broner.
Maidana - Weighs 300lbs
Guerrero - Fighting some bum. Probably won't be available for August. I have no doubt that Hearn would make that fight anyway. Guerrero isn't even any better than Rios.
Am I missing anyone? Rios is available to fight. He ticks all the boxes. Exciting style, a name in America which will help grow Brook's profile and probably make him look good.
Thurman- would fight Brook in a second. Brook will stay far away from Thurman just like most of the other WWs are and that's why hes facing Collazo.
Bradley- benefits both Arum and Hearn for Bradley to fight Vargas for the WBO title and have Rios fight Brook. So I cant fault Hearn/Brook entirely there
Guerrero/Berto/Alexander- All better than Rios at WW and available for August 28th (unless Guerrero stuggles vs Martinez). I think Haymon would prefer they fight in house but I think he'd be willing to have one of them go over to England and try to bring back a title.
Sadam Ali would be available too but Hearn wouldnt risk Brook against an unknown fighter.

Why couldn't they wait for him?
Oh yeah, cos they're American and it's ok for Yanks to do this. Typical Handz Grubby nonsense.

I don't think most people are upset with this pick so much as their anger being transferred over from Jo Jo Dan and Gavin. Brook and Eddie Hearn deserve flak for setting a new and low standard for title shots, but this fight isn't bad, it's actually a major step up for Brook.Last edited by SCEN3RY; 05-31-2015, 05:55 PM.

Thurman is fighting Collazo because he does what Al Haymon tells him. And Al Haymon is not going to send him to Sheffield in August. Hearn and Haymon have a close relationship and it seems to be mutually agreed that the fight needs to take place in America and thus Brook needs to build his profile there hence fighting someone like Rios. That fight is not at it's aphex. Both Brook and Thurman would fight each other but the promoters want to build that.
As for Berto and Alexander - I just have to laugh. How are they any better in terms of a match up now than Rios? Berto is finished and Alexander just lost 12-0 to Khan. It wouldn't be a good look for Brook to fight a guy that just lost a shutout to the guy he is calling out.
I don't think Hearn would have any issue making a fight with Robert Guerrero because he's not that much better than Rios and is something of a big name in America. The question is will Guerrero be ready and will he want that fight?

A lot of excuses being made by Dirk for Brooks lack of competition thus far in his career
30 plus fights and only 1 solid name on his resume
He's a title holder now, and beggin people to buy his fights
He better hope Jousha is always on his cards cuz there is no way to justify a PPV agaisnt the likes of Rios
