Algieri hit Khan with the harder punches, made Khan look tentative, made Khan's vaunted hand speed appear not to be all that fast, and chased Khan throughout the fight. The punch count given in this article does not reflect the fact that Algieri was the aggressor - which few if any had expected, does not reflect the fact that Algieri hurt Khan more than Khan hurt him, and neither does the punch count reflect the amount of holding which Khan found necessary to employ to survive attack after attack which Algieri mounted throughout the fight. Yes, the judges gave the fight to Khan, and the emphasis must be placed on -gave- as Khan certainly did not earn the victory which he now proclaims.

I am over the fact that Khan was gifted the decision, but I will not stand for nonsensical statements of Amir Khan's boxing prowess in direct absence of fact to support them. What can be drawn from Amir Khan's performance against Chris Aligeri is that Amir is severely limited in his ability to adjust to an opponent once inside the ring, that he is hard pressed to best a fighter who was knocked down six times in his previous fight, that he was stunned repeatedly by an opponent having a meager K.O. percentage of 36 - and not a single one of which actually resulting in a clean knockout, that he cannot make efficacious use of his superior hand speed, and that his inside skills are heavily dependent upon grabbing and holding instead of solid bodywork, a skill at which any fighter with impressively quick hands should excel. Once again, the idea that Amir Khan is a suitable opponent for Floyd Mayweather is absurd in the extreme. Having seen the difficulty which Amir Khan had fighting Chris Algieri, it is obvious to me, as well as many others, that Amir Khan offers nothing offensively or defensively which would challenge Floyd Mayweather in the least. Consequently, a fight featuring Floyd and Amir would be a complete waste of Floyd's talent as well as an insult to knowledgable boxing fans.

Khan clearly won. The Compubox stats speak for themselves, which show Khan winning 8 rounds against Algieri's 4 rounds. Not only did he throw more jabs, but Khan also threw more power punches, hurting Algieri more than the other way around. The numbers don't lie. Khan won 116-112 according to Compubox stats, so the judges were right to give Khan the UD.

As for May-Khan, the entire basis for your argument is an irrational triangle theory, which is what ignorant casual fans rely on. Knowledgable boxing fans know that styles make fights. In Khan's case, he dominates back-footed technical boxers, but has problems against front-footed pressure fighters. That's just his style. If Algieri had used the same back-footed technical style he used against Pacquiao, then Khan would have dominated him 120-108. But to everyone's surprise, John David Jackson transformed Algieri into a front-footed pressure fighter, giving Khan problems. Mayweather is a technical boxer, not a pressure fighter, so this fight doesn't tell us anything about how Khan would fare against Floyd. Khan is the only 147 fighter who can give Floyd problems, so it would be a waste of Floyd's talent not to test it against Khan.

46% - EXACTLY THE SAME as Pacquiao did against Algieri. The difference is that Khan wasn't fighting a weigh-drained Algieri like Pacquiao and Provodnikov did - he was fighting Algieri at his very best, and we know he's a tough dude because even his weight-drained version recovered from being knocked down several times against Pac and Prov.

So there we have it, Khan beat a better version of Algieri in a similar fashion to Pacquiao - but Pac got the knockdowns because he fought the weight-drained Chris.

He did lose, but it was very very close. Algieri needed to be more active. There were times were he just gave Khan the round, where Khan didn't do much either, just that Algieri wasn't throwing.
