Comments Thread For: Canelo Not Heading To Middleweight Any Time Soon

Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is not moving up to the middleweight division any time soon, according to his manager Jose "Chepo" Reynoso.

Canelo has fought his last three bouts at 155-pounds, one pound above the junior middleweight limit. His manager denies that his fighter is requesting a weight limit of 155 because there are issues with getting down to junior middleweight. Canelo faced Erislandy Lara, Alfredo Angulo and James Kirkland at 155.

He said the same thing when he fought Floyd. "Oh i made 152 yesterday and just rested. Blah, blah, blah," Once he lost it became all about the weight.

          Exactly.

If you're fighting at 155 then by definition you are not fighting at junior middleweight anymore.

Great post! I guess this statement is for "show of force." It will be interesting to see of this Cotto vs. Canelo bout is made. If I was Oscar, I would drop the lawsuits against Haymon, in exchange for Mayweather vs. Canelo 2 on September 12th! Canelo can get his rematch @ 154, and if he wins, he becomes the PPV King once Floyd retires!

Of course he isn't. Did anyone really respect him to? He should keep feasting off guys like Kirkland, angulo and make his fans happy with his performances against those type of foes

The headline should read: "Canelo not fighting middleweights any time soon"

                He's already fighting at middleweight.

When you're huffing and pufffing in the 2nd and 3rd round of a 12 rd fight it's probably time to move up. He can stay in his own weight class If he wants but it will only hurt Canelo in the long run.

The Canelo weight class lol 1st it's 155 next thing we know it will be 157
