Four Things We Learned from Khan-Algieri’s Fight

The 29th May fight between Amir Khan and Chris Algieri ended as predicted with the Brit pugilist’s hands being raised by the referee; however the American boxer Algieri fought his heart out too. Khan won the bout with unanimous decision despite several close rounds. Here are the major things we learned from Khan vs. Algieri Fight.

I learned that khan is well past it and although at one point he deserved the Floyd fight, he doesn't anymore. Which ironically is why he will get the fight now.

He isn't well past it he is 28 coming off one of the best performances of his career, but I am willing to bet a lot of money he was overtrained, like I said immediately after the fight. I have seen it happen quite a few times in person and on tv, and that kid was overtrained.

That may be what that English Khan fan learned. I learned Khan is even worse than I thought he was. I thought Algieri won a close fight by taking the fight to Khan and making Khan retreat all 12 rounds. Algieri said Khan can't punch and Khan's punching power doesn't even compare with the punching power of Ruslin or Pacquiao. Khan can't handle fast punches coming at him an resorts to excessive illegal clinching, wrestling, headlocks and bearhugs to keep his opponent from throwing punches. Khan's chin is weaker than ever at welterweight and light hitting Algieri had no trouble hurting him many times. Brook is a much better fighter than Khan and that's why Khan has always turned down Brook's challenges to fight. Hey England, get behind Brook because he is your good welterweight for now and the future. Khan will easily be knocked out by Mayweather, Pacquiao, Thurman or Brook in my opinion.

That was all careful matchmaking, the version of Khan that fought Peterson and Danny Garcia was clearly better than he is now. Also, although he never had much of a chin to begin with it's clearly worse now.

I think Khan is past prime in spite of his young age. The Khan I saw fight Judah, Maidana, and Paulie was much better than the Khan who is trained by Hunter. Khan looked worse this fight than he did in his dominate win over Alexander. Maybe Alexander's weak effort made Khan look better than he really is. Algieri showed the world how good Khan is. Khan is not very good and will lose by a one sided KO defeat if Mayweather cherrypicks him for September.

Exactly. For a site of hardcore boxing fans, people here are really easily fooled by matchmaking.
