Comments Thread For: Hearn: Algieri is No Problem, Brook Stops Him in Three

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport believes Amir Khan was not properly motivated for Friday's fight with Chris Algieri, and that's why he struggled in the match. Khan won a twelve round unanimous decision, but not before Algieri had plenty of moments of his own before a crowd of over 7,000 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Khan's domestic rival, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, returned on Friday night in London and easily stopped Frankie Gavin in six rounds.

More than anything, Hearn wants to stage a Brook-Khan showdown in a stadium in the UK. But Khan is looking at other options, like Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Sad thing Algieri is a better fighter than anyone Kell Brook has faced.

Algieri's had back-to-back fights against two top 5 opponents, it wouldn't hurt him to take a step down for his next fight, just to get back on the winning track.

No way Brook takes him out in 3, Algieri is like the White Italian American version of Juan Manuel Marquez in terms of taking punishment, he can get knocked down but he keeps getting back up.

Algieri has fought better competition than Kell Brook. I think they need to give Algieri a softer touch in his next 2 fights so he can work on a few things and get adjusted better to his new trainer, he has fought Ruslan, Pacquiao and Khan all in a row.

Algieri is one of those freak guys who can probably fight at the top level until his 40s. his stamina and conditioning is year round like B hop so he doesn't get out of shape. But he can get worn our from the punishment he is taking, he has taken a beating in his last three fights.

Brook is a good strong champion but after his big win over Porter he went back to fighting scrubs.

It seems British boxing promoters do this a lot, once their guy gets a title they come back to Europe fighting scrubs to make defenses or forced a American to fight them in their country.

Brook stops him early, he's a terrible match up for Algieri

Don't want to see it and don't expect to see it.

It's a good fight but Algieri needs a win under his belt before another title fight. Possibly losing 3 straight is no good.
