Comments Thread For: Hunter: Khan Will Need To 'Buster Douglas' Mayweather

AMIR KHAN will have to produce the biggest shock of all time if he wants to topple Floyd Mayweather.

That is the stark verdict of trainer Virgil Hunter, who reckons the Brit will need to eclipse Buster Douglas' stunning win over Mike Tyson 25 years ago if he wants to pick the pockets of the Moneyman.

Khan, 28, survived more than a few dodgy moments in the Big Apple as home favourite Chris Algieri came roaring out of the blocks to stun him in the very first round.

The native New Yorker fancied his chances and caused plenty of problems yet, while his punches rocked the two-time champ, the boy from Bolton's lightning-fast combinations ultimately sealed the deal.

Its sad how delusional these two are. Algieri was landing the right hand the whole night, and managed to wobble khan more than once. Mayweather knocks khan the **** out with a counter right hand.

Buster Douglas was like a 42-1 underdog, he was supposed to be an easy win. Khan's odds will almost surely be less than a 20-1 underdog, closer to 10-1 more realistically.

Still, it would be a *huge* upset. Not even sure what Khan can do to pull it off. Just has to hope his fast hands will be a problem for Floyd.

              Smh give it up Khan!
Khans not on that level no matter how much media hype hes got. He'll be lucky to get a Brook shot. I was saying this awhile back but i think Khan was a bad investment on his handlers part and their pushing a money fight to cut losses. Makes sense to me. why Khan can warrant a shot with his opposition level and terrible performance?

Virgil Hunter doesn't sound confident at all in that match up, and I don't blame him. Amir Khan does not possess the ring intelligence necessary to be able to compete with Floyd Mayweather.

The thing is, the amount of activity required of Khan to beat Floyd, will provide Floyd with ample opportunity to land the shot he needs to.

You realize the work rate khan will have to have to beat floyd? Khan doesnt have timing, accuracy, fients or traps all he does is throw real fast so all khan can do is try to out work mayweather but that wont be happening cause khan will slow his ass down after getting sharply countered. Now explain to me how khan without power to hurt a fly or the skills to run mayweather into something is gonna "Buster Douglas" him? makes no sense.
