  • Does Canelo have the style to beat GGG??

I'm not asking if he can or will beat him. I'm asking if you think stylistically Canelo could overcome GGG. If not who's style from any weight class would give GGG fits. SOG??? Floyd??

I do not think any style would give GGG fits. He can stand and punch with anyone and can cut off the ring as good as anyone in the sport and much better than most. He is very adaptable and after 350 amateur and 33 pro fights, I do not think there is any possible style that he has not seen and that he has not defeated.

As for Canelo specifically... I think GGG KTFOs him in under 4 rounds.

      Yes, he does.

You need to be able to hit to get Golovkin's respect, Canelo can certainly hit. He is a very good combination puncher, has faster hands, his timing is very good...

Both guys will have their advantages, it's a great fight.

Wow, Barcham is shameless in his GGG fanboy crush. Bizarre that a mature adult male, would find a heroic father figure in a guy 20 years younger.

        War GGG?

But he doesn't have the stamina.

I predict that Canelo vs GGG would go a whole lot like Garcia vs Matthyse

a phantom punch from out of the ring closes GGG's eye and Canelo's corner putting water near the ropes causing a KD with Al Haymon joining forces with De La Hoya to bribe the judges to score the fight 10-2.

              Then, the cycle will continue

I'll be interested to see how GGG's stamina looks against another big guy who is also a top fighter.

Canelo does have stamina issues, but he's went the distance with guys like Lara, Trout, Mayweather, beat up Angulo with power shots for 10 rounds...I think he'll be alright.

Yes, especially after the twelve rounds of schooling that he picked up against Mayweather.

Canelo is an offensive combination puncher, throws effectively to the head and body, and seems to be picking up trips/traps as he develops and picks up more varied sparring.

The Kirkland fight was a **** fight (once Ann Wolfe wasn't there, it was pretty clear that Kirkland wouldn't be ready), but the way that Canelo closed the fight out was impressive; set up the shot with prior body work, used one of the key faints that Mayweather executes (set the shot for the body, before then throwing to the head once the opponent commits to protect), and still had the wherewithal to step out of the immediate line of return fire with a defensive pivot.

Golovkin is there to be hit, doesn't seem to take body shots all that well, and looks like an utterly different fighter when he's force to fight going backwards. Only question is how the chin holds.

Kind of a tired analogy, but Golovkin is akin to a great white shark; in the open water, with prey to pursue, the shark is arguably one of the most ruthlessly effective predators on the planet; stop a shark from coming forward, or even force the shark to travel in retreat, and the shark drowns.
