At this point it doesn't matter and Mayweather himself might feel that way as well. I'm hoping Brook or Thurman though.

I don't think we see Floyd fight in September or maybe even this year. There's no buzz for it right now, the May/Pac result left a vacuum of excitement. I would think he'd want his farewell fight to be a big and glorious event and right now it might suffer from the hangover of his last event.

Let Thurman, Khan, Porter, Garcia, Broner battle it out and set him up with a worthy, unrushed opponent for next year.

Outside of these forums does anyone even care?

At this point, he can't really lose. He's just made a quarter billion and was making record purses before that. I think his last fight will do decent numbers regardless. I'd like to see Thurman, Brook, or Cotto just to punk Canelo again and take the September date.

I like this idea, throw Matthsye and Brook in there too.

If its this year then it will be a soft touch but if its next year then it will probably be may v pac II.

It really doesn't matter, there is nothing he can do that would be as big as his last fight.

You should hope he fights someone as credible as Garcia or Khan because it could be a lot worse, if you care about the level of guy he is going to fight but really at this point what difference will it make?

I don't like the idea of Cotto getting the fight but not because it is too soon to Cotto's june fight. If Cotto has no injuries he would have over 90 days to train for a September fight. That's twice as long as he needs. I think maybe you are to used to this era of many big star boxers fighting less than twice a year. Champions like Marvin Hagler defended their titles four times a year with no problems and thought nothing of it. Eight weeks is more than enough time for a fighter to prepare for a big fight unless he is way overweight.

Mayweather is nearing 40, taking time off isn't what he needs at this point.

I don't think Mayweather shares your perspective. He's going to walk away with $40m regardless of who he fights, likely has no motivation and seems very eager to retire.
