Britain's Amir Khan took a unanimous decision victory over American Chris Algieri in a welterweight matchup, then called out unbeaten Floyd Mayweather for a world title showdown.

Khan improved to 31-3 with his fifth victory in a row, which came by judges' scores of 117-111, 117-111 and 115-113.

Algieri fell to 20-2 with his second defeat in a row, the other coming last November at Macau at the hands of Filipino star Manny Pacquiao -- who lost to treble world champion Mayweather in boxing's richest-ever megafight earlier this month.

Don't be surprised if Khan vs Manny is made for later this year. This was just the performance he needed to secure a shot against Manny. That'll be the next sells pitch. He is clearly easy to catch and hit and Arum would sell this as Mannys big comeback fight. Based on tonights performance, Khan would make Manny look spectacular.

While I thought Khan did just enough to win, he did not look impressive. He got hit way too much. I was expecting a 1 sided fight and it was very competitive. He's not ready for Mayweather after that performance.

Khan is willing to take a sure knockout for a final payday. That's his real goal and it's kind of sad when you think about it. And Floyd retires wih a KO. Mayweather's mouth is watering right now.
