    Gennady Golovkin vs Erislandy Lara

If GGG wants to pick on a smaller fighter, why doesn't he fight Erislandy Lara at 158 catchweight? that would be a real good test for him against a guys who's fast and elusive, good ring IQ, with skills and good stamina, Monroe was gassed after 2 rounds, and he was also gassed in the Vera fight after 3-4 rounds and had to stand on the ropes to catch a breezer.

What do you guys think? is GGG ducking Lara since Lara has shown interest in the fight and GGG never addressed it? and if the fight happens, who you got? I got GGG winning probably on points, I expect a similar fight like Lara vs Canelo where Lara does well but then GGG gets the decision cuz he was coming forward.

His ass gets schooled for 12 rounds that's why.

Dude is a complete hype beast with no defensive skills or head movement.

Lara went life and death with the one dimensional alfredo angulo. Golovkin hits much harder, and can cut off the ring like no one else in the sport. Lara doesn't make it past the 6th,and I'm saying this as both a GGG and Lara fan.

It can also happen that GGG catches Lara if Lara doesn't stay busy enough with his own punches and if that happens that's a wrap for Lara, Lara has been KDed a few times which means he doesn't have the best chin out there, but I just don't see GGG cutting him off especially early, remember Lara was an excellent amateur and he's very good for the first 3-4 rounds, if he could stick and move and make GGG miss for the first 3-4 rounds, GGG will lose some of that tremendous power that he has and from there on Erislandy has a great chance.

Anyway it's an intruiging matchup and even though Lara is a Light middleweight he would be the best and biggest name GGG has ever faced, and if he beats him he'll get credit for it.

Canelo was tagging Lara with body shots all day and he can't even cut off the ring. GGG is one of the best at cutting the ring off, bad fight for Lara and being 345-5, he's seen plenty of Lara's before.

I agree. Stylistically it's tougher for Lara than the Canelo fight. Stylistically Golovkin is easier for Canelo than Lara too, but that's where levels come into play. Golovkin is likely to be more effective than Perro or Kirkland.

Lara gets crushed, but I still maintain he'd be the best GGG has faced.

One dimensional Angulo took out Rosado in 2 rounds, and didn't get touched.

GGG needed 7 rounds and endswell between rounds.

Golovkin is as one dimensional as they come.

I like the fight because the strengths of both men play against one another at high level, but I don't think it's possible due to the politics.

Haymon has too much invested into the PBC, with HBO as the only resistance to his brand assuming the whole of the sport. I don't see him allowing one of his guys to go on HBO and lose, increasing the star power of one HBO's biggest stars.

I think that's the reason we just got Willie Monroe. People were asking for Lara, so they gave us a guy who's pretty similar but without all the aggravation of having to go through what would've ended up a failed negotiation.

We should move off Golovkin/Lara and maybe start asking for Golovkin/DeGale (if the Froch fight falls through). DeGale is in neutral territory, bigger than Golovkin, southpaw, accomplished title holder, with Olympic pedigree.
