I don't know if he has declined or if he is just simply a hype job and a more athletic and faster fighter like Monroe exposed some things. But I do know that Cotto can beat this man. Cotto has a better chance beating GGG than he does Canelo. Lateral movement and hand speed will be the end of GGG. And lets not even talk about him fighting Ward...
The sad thing is.. Golovkin is already declining

Well, 168 has better fighters than 160. By a long shot. Like for example, any MW not named GGG would get knocked out by say, Abraham at 168, imo. And let's face it, AA hasn't been a force at SMW for a while now. But he alone can KO the entire 160 1 by 1, if they came up to 168. I really do think AA at least ends up with a winning record against the top 10 MW's, collectively.Comment

He was fighting almost exclusively in Germany dip****. He's only fought once in his home country and that was because he had legal issues.
Unfortunately he was promoted by Felix Sturms company, which d1cked him around for years. Golovkin lived in Germany and rose up the ranks and became mandatory to Sturm. That was going to be a big fight in Germany and that was his goal. But he stayed mandatory for over two years and the WBA wouldn't enforce it (Sturms manager admitted to paying them $750,000 so that he wouldn't have to fight Golovkin). Golovkin then got into a legal dispute to get out of his contract, which is why he had to fight in Panama a couple times and Kazakhstan in between just so he could stay busy. He's also fought in Denmark.Comment

Golovkin is too good for MW and that in itself is more the issue than comparing the two divisions. Outside of a fight with Canelo why should he fight there from a competitive stand point? What's the point, he's not fooling anyone.Comment

Quite obviously it's not what you said. Golovkin had a bit of a name in Germany before he came to HBO. A Sturm fight would have been a pretty good event there.Comment

He hasn't been pushed so there is no measure to gauge his abilities. I think he's so used to fighting lower level guys that he doesn't have the aggression or fear a fighter has when facing top guys any more. It may come to bite him in the ass because he's been driving under the speed limit for so long that he might not remember how to race.Comment

Only Froch and Ward mean anything. Dirrells both just lost, Bika is a journeyman, and Abraham is done. I'd MUCH rather see Cotto/Lemiuex/Quillin/Lee/Jacobs than those fights.
Why did Bernard Hopkins fight there for so many years when he couldn't unify or land any big names? Why did Hagler? Hopkins finally got his big fight at 36 against Trinidad and the other title holders avoided him for years (Don King fighters). How'd his career turn out? Imagine if Hopkins would have moved up in weight out of frustration? He would have never unified ALL the titles, never would have been lineal champ, never would have fought Trinidad and Oscar. Never would have had a record 20 middleweight title defenses. Never would have been considered an ATG middleweight. He stayed patient. I hope GGG does the same (except for Froch and Ward later down the road). Golovkin has stated it's his goal to unify 160, and that's very important to him. Who are you to question his dream?
And for the record Golovkin moving up to fight two of the best, top 10 fighters in the world is not "desperation by my standards. I'd say it's admirable.Comment

That's fine, then in the meantime he will continue to be scrutinized, and rightfully so. His dream is not in line with what people want to see from him. Eventually he will get his record defenses and unify his titles... I just hope it's not too late and he doesn't become the guy who woulda, could a, shoulda.
