Yes Cotto, you have everything to prove to the boxing fans and boxing public. You fought nobody since you beat a crippled lame old MW Sergio . (At least Sergio was known lame b4 the fight unlike a PAC excuse) Geale may pull a Trout on you.

I do believe the part that he has nothing to prove against these guys because he's already HOF bound and a win or loss doesn't do much to even put a dent on his career. HOWEVER you are the lineal Champ and holding the belt hostage isn't appealing to me. And it's not even that he's holding it hostage because he's entitled to a voluntary defense against whoever like other champs who choose to fight D class fighters but the obvious is Canelo nexct so I'm fine with that.

Cotto's right everyone knows who he is by now. A good fighter that takes a loss when he steps up his competition unless its a 40 year old fighter coming off two knee surgeries and a year layoff.
He knows what would happen if he steps in the ring with either Canelo or GGG. He might as well take the Canelo fight as he would at least get another big payday for his ass whipping. He may not have a choice as HBO seems keen on making the fight and not allowing Cotto to take any other matchup on their network.

What Cotto is saying is that, unlike GGG and Alvarez, he has earned the right to call the shots in his career, just like Floyd Mayweather. Cotto is saying that he is the one who decides who he fights, when he fights and where he fights -- not his opponents, the sanctioning bodies or HBO. He is saying that no sanctioning body is going to tell him who he must fight or when because he can always vacate the belt and fight for another sanctioning body's belt. HBO is not going to tell him who he can fight because he can always go to Showtime and make the same amount of money fighting any opponent. And fighters like Alvarez are not going to tell him that he has to fight them on a certain date like the first Saturday in May or the second Saturday in September and Alvarez is not going to dictate the terms because Cotto is the A-side in any fight involving Mayweather or Pacquaio.

Cotto is not afraid of Alvarez or GGG. He is simply saying that they and everyone else must realize that he is the A-side in either fight and will dictate the terms.
