Not all fighters get spoon fed bums. Look at James Toney. Why are you talking like your his manager?? No more bullsh.itting. Just match up all the prospects and let the best will emerge.Cherry picking? The guy isn't a title holder, he isn't a challenger. He's an up & coming prospect working his way up the ranks. I guess you're new to boxing and haven't followed anyone's career from the very start before.
Sparring.
No one is protecting him, he's moving up fine as most all young fighters do. Again, you must be new to the sport. Look at Mike Tyson's first 15 opponents. Look at Pacquiao's first 15. Marquez. Bradley. Mosley. There is absolutely nothing wrong with how Spence is being brought up.Comment

Maybe YOU should look at James Toney. His 15th fight he fought a guy with a record of 7-15.
Look for yourself:

His 16th fight, which is how many fights Spence has, he fought a guy 18-4-1. For his 17th fight Toney fought a guy 6-6-2. For his 18th fight he fought a guy who was 1-0.
What a miserable example. Comparing the two, Spence has been moved more quickly than James Toney.
You've made it perfectly clear you have no concept of "prospect". 99.9% of fighters start their careers this way. Only super rare special occasions will you see guys move more quickly, like Lomachenko or Leon Spinks. Also more common in Japan.Last edited by ИATAS; 05-25-2015, 11:01 PM.Comment

So know it's about activity huh? Keep moving those goal posts. But while we're at it Spence fought 10 times in the first year of his career.
Let's recap:
1. Spence is moving along just fine for a prospect.
2. He's been very active.
3. You don't know shit about boxing.Comment

I think the Toney / Spence comparison you made is very good. Spence is being moved more quickly than a guy in Toney who went on to become an ATG. Perhaps because we see prospects on TV more often, people are more critical of their opposition. I remember seeing Roy Jones around his 6th fight and wondered what happened to him till I saw some footage of his 15th fight and wondered where he had been.Maybe YOU should look at James Toney. His 15th fight he fought a guy with a record of 7-15.

But in that period of time, Jones was not fighting top names every single fight either. Now that we are seeing almost every fight of some prospects on our TV sets, we automatically expect them to be facing a top guy every time but that wouldn't be realistic till they are main event status.
We have to be patient and wait till the time is right when they step up to the contender level opposition. And that takes time and your comparison of where Spence and Toney were at the 15th fight mark proves that.
I think by the time he has had 21 fights, he will have fought a couple solid contenders.Last edited by richardt; 05-26-2015, 12:21 AM.Comment
