Comments Thread For: Promoter: Wilder-Povetkin Can Take Place in America

Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21 KOs) made a statement this past Friday in Moscow, when he knocked out Mike Perez in 91 seconds in his final WBC heavyweight eliminator.

Povetkin is now the mandatory challenger to WBC heavyweight Deontay Wilder of (33-0, 32 KOs), who defends his title next month against Eric Molina.

The Russian challenger is represented by very wealthy promoter Andrei Ryabinsky, who two years ago bid a record $23 million dollars to bring Povetkin's fight with heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko to Russia.

Weren't you banned? Sad to see you back with your oh-so-scintillating and insightful posts.

The fight will take place where the WBC champ wants it, I imagine.

Not bothered where it happens. Wilder's manager didn't want $10m to go to Russia lol.....so it probably will be in America. I just hope it happens. Povetkin seems on a roll at the moment.

No, it has to do with whoever wins the purse bid.

I imagine it will happen in the USA if Haymon wins the purse bid.

And Haymon will probably have Wilder vacate the title if Rabinsky wins the purse bid and wants it in Moscow.

But as I said before, Russian boxers are not cowards who refuse to fight outside their home country, so Povetkin will travel to the USA if necessary.

regardless of where it happens i don't see wilder winning this fight. I thought he would lose to stiverne but he surprised me with his ability that night. povetkin is a step up from stiverne & he is on a roll since his terrible fight with klitschko. Charr, takam & perez all by knockout is pretty impressive. I think this fight will happen in the US & if Povetkin wins there will be a rematch for all the marbles unless Fury upsets Wlad...

Good news. Haymon does business with most promoters. The only ones he seems to have problems with are the scum tied to HBO (TR, ME, GBP).

They don't have the fighters to play tough for the long haul.

Haymon has the young fighters sowed up.

Povetkin doesn't move well enough to avoid Wilder's favorite shots.

He'd likely get slice-up by Wilder's jab and put to sleep by a right hand.

Wilder doesn't have to stand in front of him.He can actually move.
