Yeah but not Degale...it just that in facing Dirrell, Chunky knew he wasn't in there wit ha complete fighter who could take FULL advantage.
Ward is a complete fighter.Comment

He doesn't fade late, he coasts in the mid-late rounds and finishes pretty strong. But even with that, he's usually wayyyy ahead on the xards. I dunno what degale was doing for most of the middle rounds. That's a big hole in his game. He will never beat an elite guy like that.Comment

I've seen him hold on a lot late in fights, lost the late rounds to Froch and held Abraham a lot late too.He doesn't fade late, he coasts in the mid-late rounds and finishes pretty strong. Not sure what DeGale was doing in the middle rounds either, maybe coasting because he was in the lead or a gap in fitness. Showed good desire in the last round though, Dirrell really needed that one and DeGale took it.Comment

This is the only fight that makes sense to me as a fight fan, unless Ward wants to move up. I don't wana see Ward v any more Paul Smith like characters.
In terms of the fight itself, Ward would win, he is the bigger, stronger guy in there and would just out muscle and out steam DeGale in the middle rounds as Chunky can gas too soon. But, DeGale has shown, time and time again that he has the hand speed, foot work and technical ability to lay hands on anyone in the division and Ward would get tagged quite a bit early. But after round 4, he would probably adjust and simply outwork DeGale down the stretch.
Maybe Chunky needs a better personal trainer.Comment

Would like to see this after Ward's tuneup. DeGale seems willing to travel and he's not a Haymon guy so I don't see why it can't get made. Maybe in New York or Atlantic City?Comment
